But the guy wanted to be murdered and eaten, and gave permission to the other guy. It's such a gray area, I didn't know what to think.

When two mentally disturbed people meet the results can be devoid of logic.

I guess they ended up being happy with the results.

Actually since he was eaten the person that's alive now has both people in his molecules. So technically he's still living.

Since we're all formed out of the same cosmic dust it further blurs the line.

Actually, it's funny you should mention that, because I think this is how reincarnation works.

Yes...I believe that also.

If the prisoner can get someone else to eat him and so on, I think they've found the fountain of youth!

Since murder and cannibalism is pretty much illegal I'll go with B. Not good.

You see folks this logic is what I battle against.

I try to point out the flaw in some of the "reasoning" here and when two "consenting" adults do something RG doesn't agree with he hides behind the law rather than take on the challenge to his idea by duraassa.

When I take apart the flimsy logic, I get accused of equating gay sex with child sex when the more educated person can see I am riding your same principle to it's logical conclusion.

Even if we built everything on "consenting adult" (a term that is only a few decades old,) how lame is that?

That definition is changing all the time and it varied between diff states.

Bottom line, my principle has stood for 1500 years and build the western-world, what has yours accomplished but turn millions of people into wards of the State with all this dysfunction?

Danno, you are actually right about this, in some sense. When everyone believes the same thing, and this thing motivates them to behave a certain way, people are capable of great things. Most successful societies throughout history had religion, and it was a great tool to control people and keep them in line.

Although religion was successful in that, that doesn't make it fact. I would love nothing more than to believe that there is a man in the sky out there that loves me and watches over me, but I simply don't buy it, because it doesn't make sense to me.

That being said, living my life to bring happiness other people is what makes me happy, and it's what a lot of religions suggest. It's my philosophy to encourage my family, friends, coworkers, and even strangers to be happy. So I try to help people when I can, and I take care of anything that might cause people to be unhappy or inconvenienced on my own. I can't believe that there is a higher power watching out for me, but at least I know that I have my family watching out for me, and that I can watch out for them in turn.

Some people are very selfish, and think that life is all about getting whatever they can get from others. These people don't end up very happy or productive, indeed.

Slavery was also a principle and legal...so was burning witches...what's the point?

It's a new century...try hating something you can actually stop, because homosexuals have been around 100,000 years or more.

Do you know the case in Germany where a man was consensually murdered and eaten by another man?

What did you think about this case?

As long as drugs were not involved (IE everyone was of sound mind) fine. Knock yourselves out. You want to die, ok. Just don't try taking others with you.

Considering it's Germany, they probably were high on nicotine and ecstasy, after coming back from a rave... But nobody has proved that yet :P

Wait a minute... YOU are the one hiding behind "it's legal/ illegal " not me, I require a bit more exploration.

Should people be allowed to sell an organ?

Should people be allowed to sell an organ?

As long as the process of transplanting said organ goes through a hospital, I'm cool with it.

If I needed it to pay for my Nigerian fiance's sudden medical costs, I'd do it in a second!!

(Just trying to bring some humor to the thread.)

Actually, if I had to get the money to save my kids' lives or something along those lines, I would. I heard someone in China did it to get an iPhone -- I bet he's kicking himself for not waiting for the 5S.

Many people accept if someone is in chronic pain from cancer or another physical disease that it's their right to choose to end their life. But if it's a mental disease or problem that causes them to do it, the fact that they may later regret it makes it really hard to say. I'm just curious what people thought about such a case.

Incidentally that is one conversation I have had with my kids and spouse. I reserve the right to decide when my life is to end if I should find myself in such a predicament. I don't think it is mental issue, because one must be in possession of an acute rationale in order to plan for this paradigm. It is not something you plot with emotion, so much as it is a pragmatic decision.

Sell all your organs if you want.

It's your body...not my body.

Intolerant people always want to tell others why they are so right. It's not your body...so stop trying to stick your nose in it.

So you would have no problem with an import business set up to traffic incoming organs from third-world countries?
