I am applying an I-824 (following-to-join) for my son in China based on approved I-485. I don't know how to fill the timeline for my case since there is no option for this kind of visa type.

Is there any case complete after submitting at the end of August? I called the Service and was told it will take about 30 business days.

Here is the timeline for my case:

USCIS

NOV1: 04/16/2013

NOV2:07/01/2013, hard copy: 07/06/2013

NVC

08/01/2013: Case NO.

08/09/2013: email DS-3032

08/14/2013: Request OPTIN for EP

08/16/2013: IV fee billed

08/18/2013: IV fee paid

08/21/2013: IV fee show "PAID"

08/21/2013: Called the supervisor to check OPTIN status and was told the case is not eligible due to employer based visa type.

08/23/2013: mailing the IV package

08/26/2013: delivered

08/28/2013: showing in the system.

xx/xx/2013: waiting for case complete.

At this stage, is best to call into NVC and ask for a supervisor.

Yup, use a telephone.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Darnell,

Do you know if Guangzhou consulate will send any documents or contact directly with the beneficiary in China? or they are just sending email to me or my attorney for interview?

Thanks

Guangzhou will (somehow) send out the packet 4 (interview letter with instructions) to the beneficiary.

Alternatively, you can call DoS Hotline, learn of the appointment date via telephone.

Should we get any email notice for interview information? I don't think I have the address in Chinese on the form. If I didn't get the P4 in mail, is it possible to get it in email?

Thanks

I've no idea.

However, there are other paper-case filers (IR-5, CR-1, IR-1) with casefiles headed to Guangzhou this year,

who have had the exact same problem as you , "How will the beneficiary be notified"..

IIRC, a piece of postal mail was sent out to the beneficiary.

OR

the beneficiary was allowed to self-schedule at the ustraveldocs.com website after the IV Unit 1] received the casefile and 2] opened the casefile .

You've some time, 2 to 3 months, before the casefile hits GUZ IV, so you should hunt down these members in the China portal timeline thingie.

Also, a question - was a GUZ IV P3 Supplemental form submitted with the DS-230 into NVC? If yes, then the IV Unit will have the Beneficiary's address in chinese characters.

Yes, my lawyer submit the DS-230 into NVC, but the form is filled in English except for name. Also, do you know what is the DOS hotline No? Thanks
