Hello everyone,

First and foremost....I spent a great deal of time researching this and I am still a little confused so I want to simply double check things.

I came here on K1 visa, we got married and now are filling for AOS. We are living with my husband's parents and intend to use his dad as co-sponsor. My husband makes 18 000 a year his dad is somewhere along the lines of 40 000. My question is:

Does his dad fill out only 864a and provide his tax returns for the last 3 years as well as letter of employer or does he have to fill out 864.

Where does my husband's mother fit in? Does she need to fill out the 864a as well ? If she does not, do we still count her in household size ? His mom works too so just to cover all bases should we have them both fill out the 864a ?

When i first got the forms I thought it was simple enough and then I started researching and reading and now i am over-thinking and confusing myself.

OH unrelated question: can i just submit copy of the certified translation of the copy of my birth certificate ? shocked.gif

Thanks for any help

J.

It can be a little confusing. Read the instructions of each pertinent I-864 series form for details about use and which one(s) are applicable to you. Here is a DOS FAQ web page speaking about I-864 Affidavit of Support-series forms: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3183.html

Good luck.

Completed: K1/K2 (271 days) - AOS/EAD/AP (134 days) - ROC (279 days)
