Hi everyone,

I'm new and latecomer to the forums here, but I'm writing today to ask for anyone's insight to a peculiar situation I'm in.

I filed I-129F back in early June, and in the past week changed addresses to a new apartment just down the road. I went to change my address on the USCIS website this morning and, much to my very pleasant surprise, checked the status of my application to find that it had been approved and sent to the state department for processing YESTERDAY! Strangely I never got a NOA2 via email or text message (though I signed up for both) and now my mailed copy will likely not arrive here for 30 days since the USPS won't forward government mail and, according to the representative I spoke with today, I cannot request another copy until that time.

As such, my question is threefold: 1. Is there any pertinent information in the NOA2 that I need to have? 2. Is there anything I need to do or anyone I need to contact at this time regarding the change of address? 3. Is the next step simply that my fiancee will be sent the visa at her address?

Any insight or suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks,

Jon

Hello.... yes, you will need that NOA2 for the embassy appointment and medical in certain places.... but no worries... from what I have seen, it usually takes about a month or so before it gets to NVC and is sent to the consulate by which time you can request another copy.... even though you signed up for alerts (just like I did) it did not work for me other than when the time they received it....

how long did you take before you changed your address until you called USCIS? it is always recommended to call right away...

in regards to the next step, you need to call NVC, please see the forums in regards to the number (sorry, I don't have it handy)... I am sure another VJer has it and will post it... basically your packet goes to the National Visa Center, it is processed there and then sent to the embassy or consulate and then you get a paper in the mail with all the indications of what to do next.... but usually you can start filling up the docs about two or three weeks after your approval is sent to NVC since they need to give you certain information that you must put on the papers your fiancé needs to fill out before she goes to the interview... it hope it helps..

and by the way, congrats!!!! you have overcome the longest wait... now it is just about gathering and completing the final steps.... she should be in the next couple of months or so.... I hope this info helps...

*Two weeks after you receive the NOA2 you can contact the NVC to see if they have received your approved I-129F. You can contact them at 603 334-0700. Their homepage is here. Welcome to the US Department of State! Things move much faster now :).

This information is under Guies and K1 flowchart :) good luck!!!!
