Hi there,

I'm currently supporting my husband while we wait for his EAD and GC. He has a job in Canada that will hire him back as soon as he has the EAD. (He works from home.)

Once he is working, I would like to go back to working part time and go back to school. At what point do they not care about my ability to support him? Once he has his green card?

Thanks!

The affidavit of support is in place until the spouse becomes a USC works 40 quarters or one of you dies or leaves the US forever If he doesn't claim means tested benefits they don't care if you work or not

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Thank you! I'm more worried about them calling my employer and finding out that I only work 20 hours, for example. I guess that won't happen after the GC is issued?

After he has his GC they will not ask about your finances anymore. The I-864 remains in effect, but you won't be proving your income after that.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!
