K1 Fiancé Interview

**Bit of background info**
- I’m of Indian origin but British Citizen (the only passport I have had)
- I was born in India but only lived there a few years as a toddler/kid
- We were repeatedly told by many VJ’ers that we would go into AP for at least a month or more. So we prepared for the worst…but no need as we were approved and issued the visa within 10 days!

Now onto the interview…

Got there at 7.20, in queue for security for about 10-15 mins and in through the waiting area about 7.40.

I was the third in line for Immigrant visa so not too much of a wait.Got called up to Window 1 (there are 16 window I think); the lady asked for my passport, photos, birth cert, police cert, support forms. I gave her the affidavit, and the employer letter - that’s all she wanted and waved the other proof of income away. All in all took 10mins. I was very nervous and fumbling around despite preparing my docs in orderly fashion!

The lady told me to go back to the waiting area for the second interview and it was now around 8.30 or so.

My number gets called again about 40-50mins later, and I go up. The guy is American, young and seems nice. He goes through our petition file for about a min (think he’s forming questions in his head) puts me under oath, I agree:

1. When did you meet your Fiance?
2. Was it arranged?
3. When was your next meeting?
He tried to confuse me by asking me the same question but saying ‘OK so you met at XXX’ and I was like er no..wait..no we met on XXX.
5. When did you see sparks flying/how did you know?
7. Where will you get married?
8. Have your parents met?
9. What does your fiance do?
10. Spell his company name.
11. How often do you talk to him?

Office shuffles through papers, says ‘You’re approved! Congratulations, you’ll get your visa in a week or so! Have a nice new life in the States!’

I couldn’t and didn’t believe him. I was still looking for that blue slip on his desk…but no blue slip and no issues! I’m approved :) Walked around in a daze and back to the office!

All in all went very smoothly, was the easiest part of the process so far!

So now onto CEAC + visa delivery:

Our status update and case creation date changed on 12-Sept-2013 to ‘READY’
Next was ‘AP’ from 12-Sept-2013 until 16-Sept-2013
Then to our surprise ...‘ISSUED’ on 16-Sept-2013! (We thought we would be in AP for a month at least because of my origin!)
Got an email with a tracking number on 18-Sept-2013
Picked up at nearest depot 19-Sept-2013 and have it in hand!

Finally get to be with my Fiance and start our new life together. Today is a good day smile.gif

Good luck all!
