What constitutes a CEAC status update change or general status change

Hello Everyone,

Happy to say we are on the home stretch. "Packet three" submitted, medical complete on Monday and DS-2001 in the post tomorrow. Now we sit and wait for the interview.

My question is what constitutes a status update change or general status change on CEAC? Mine has said "ready" since the date "packet three" was sent which was July 25th. I realize the medical results have not yet arrived but clearly "packet three" has arrived and I would have thought the July 25th "status update date" would have changed once the "packet three" arrived. So now I am a little worried that it never made it.

Can any one provide some light on this. Should I be worried or is this normal.

Many thanks...

Do not take too much notice of that stuff, it seems somewhat random, mine changed when they got my forms and medical, then nothing even when my interview was scheduled, letter dated 23 Aug. Then for some reason it updated on 13 Sept which is 10 days before interview. No idea why though.

Mine says "Ready" but speaking to the DoS yesterday they say that my Packet 3 hasn't been received.

I sent my packet 3 five weeks ago, had my medical two weeks ago and have been sitting here waiting patiently for them to send me an interview date. Today I'm rushing them another set of packet 3 documents to be delivered Monday morning.

The lady we spoke to at the DoS says not to pay any attention to what the CEAC website says as it's new and still flaky/unreliable.

Makes me wonder how I would have ever known that they were waiting for me while I was waiting for them! I'm starting to panic that I won't be in America for Christmas.

To both of you ceac will continue to say ready til after your interview and your visa is issued then it should change from ready to issued and as for your forms it takes approximately four weeks from the date you send them to when they are logged into your file ,so therefore dos wouldn't be able to tell you if your forms had been received untill the embassy has logged them .you could continue to check with dos every once in awhile if your forms have been logged, and if it goes past four weeks since you sent them and you have heard nothing then contact the embassy via the contact form on their website, but as for now you both have nothing to worry about :-)

Edit Steve and Krissy I just re read your post it's gone the four weeks since you sent your forms,go onto the London American embassy website and contact them via the contact form on there state to them the date you sent your forms and you still haven't heard .try not to worry I've been waiting 6 weeks but they informed me by email last week that my forms are currently being processed.definitely contact them though

You won't be allocated an interview date until the embassy have received the results of your medical. So that would only have been about 10 days ago!

My experience of the CEAC updates is that they are pretty reliable. It updated when they logged my pcket 3, when they logged my medical, when they assigned an interview date, and then when they dispatched packet 4 to tell me they had assigned me an interview date.

Dont expect a status update just because you know they have signed for your packet 3 and receieved it. They usually only update it once they "log" it and there is a difference. As your readyness form hasnt been sent yet its not surprising they may not have logged your packet 3 so i would say its not unusual for them not to have logged packet 3 on the CEAC update

Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences. It's so very helpful.

Status updated posted today. Happy in the knowledge they now have everything from us.

Have a feeling the interview might be scheduled past expiration date but not worried as I gave him a notarized intent letter during our vacation in July.

And now we wait.....again.

Well our re-sent packet 3 was delivered yesterday. Today there is an update at the ceac. It looks like the lady at the DoS was right, they were waiting for something from us even though the ceac page said everything was ready!
