What do you mean by IRS receipts? Did you include the 1040 forms or your tax transcripts?

Get tax transcripts free from IRS to eliminate any problems. What you have sent may be questioned but I don't know what you mean by IRS receipts either. If tax returns are used they must include every supporting doc as well.

What I meant was I included 1040 from TurboTax and then W-2s and earning statement BUT no IRS receipts. I have read somewhere and saw that you needed IRS receipts but I do not know what that is.

Thank you for your reply.

Dear Ning and Darnell I think I meant IRS transcripts now, I only sent W-2s and earning statement and form 1040 for the tax return.

What you describe here are not transcripts. If you only sent what you indicate here it may not be enough. I suggest you get the actual transcripts from the IRS . Do that by requesting them on line or by phone. Takes a few minutes to request. They arrive by mail, fax or you can get them in person at any IRS office.

Ok, thank you again Ning.

"the sponsor MUST submit a copy of the most recent
federal income tax return with all supporting schedules and/or W-2s or an Internal
Revenue Service (IRS) transcript (even if the sponsor filed electronically)."
I did read this and that made me look over but apparently not =(
I am so scared right now but I know I can't fix it. I went ahead and requested the transcripts of the past 2 years as you suggested.

You are not reading this correctly, there's an "OR" there. You do NOT need to include the IRS transcripts if you send the 1040 and the W2's. So, unless you also had other forms (like 1099) or other "schedules" (ie things that are produced by the turbotax that you sent to the IRS with your return) that you did not include, you are fine.

I sent my 1040s along with the W2s and all the schedules of 1040 and all the 1099s (basically pretty much the whole package that you send out when you file your taxes) and I didn't get a RFE. I saw one person who got a RFE quite recently because they only sent the 1040 and W2s (no schedules to the 1040 or 1099s).

USCIS wants you to send either everything OR just the transcript from IRS. If you sent everything you should be fine. I think it was a good idea to get the transcripts (just to be safe :-) )

Good Luck!

Yeah, I have already sent mine. So I guess it's kind of like 50-50 at this point based on what you told me.

There is actually no uncertainty at all. If you had forms like 1099 or schedules like Schedule C that you sent on your tax return besides the 1040 and the W2's, but for some reason decided to not send now, you will get an RFE. If all you had was W2's, you will not get an RFE. It's just a matter of checking what you sent in your tax return and what you sent with your AOS package. That's all.

IMO, you should not worry too much about it now that you have already sent the documents. If you do get a RFE, you can send them the transcripts you have already ordered. If you get a RFE, you it will slow down the process just a little bit but you will still get your green card :)

Keep in mind the tax info that people suggest here simply shows people filled out tax forms. Transcripts prove tax status. That is a huge difference. Transcripts end any confusion by anyone questioning a tax situation including an officer at an embassy.

You may not have a problem with this at all. If you do its easy to fix and you wont lose too much time. No RFE is good but they do indicate someone is working on your case. Once they begin they are supposed to try to complete so when your info gets there the case resumes pretty quickly.
