Hotels in Ormoc City..Please help!!

Hi everyone,

I need help finding a nice, clean, cheap place for my fiancee and I to stay for 14 days in Ormoc City. I have no

clear direction on which hotel to stay for that long.

If anyone can suggest a good place I would greatly appreciate it. I see a lot of price differences but that doesn't mean that the more expensive is the best. I need some place safe to being an American and all. I don't want to

have some place to take advantage of this either. I tried to call some of the Hotel's phone # that are listed on the internet but it is hard to get through. I would like to reserve a place before I come in Jan and to see what they require. I tried to call the "David's Inn" because it is rated so high with past guests but they don't answer their phone or respond to my emails. I am finding several like this. I prefer free breakfest but it is not required if there is a place close by that serves good food.

Hello Richard,

My asawa is from near Tabango, about an hour's drive north of Ormoc. Been to Ormoc many times during 4 visits in seven years, last trip was this past April. I've not availed of the local accommodations instead staying with the family in their very meager bamboo hut, quite an adventure, I assure you. I've survived just fine, but oh so grateful to be back home here in Ohio.

I really enjoy this website with bits about the Philippines, and Ormoc in particular - look for the Leyte tidbits. It's a good guide in general, maybe not up to date, but still informative.

It appears as though you've visited at least once. You fiancé is in Ormoc proper or in surrounding region? Just PM us if you're interested.

By the way, multiple Milwaukee trips over the years to former corporate HQ just off US45 near Good Hope, the twin silver towers.

I wish I could help you in more detail, but I can't. When I visited there between Christmas and New Year's a few years ago, I couldn't get a last minute room at the nice place on the ocean with lovely pool (forget the name--but don't skip this--heh heh!). I soon found a lot of other hotels a short trike-thingy away (they're different from your typical trike), and you just have your honey watch your luggage and run up and check the room. There are a few that meet western standards of cleanliness and wifi, but beware of the bait-n-switch hotels that have an immaculate lobby, but the 900 peso price is only for rooms next door (with the Vietnam-era war hospital decor).

I guess there's a reason why I can't remember details about that place. The biggest impression I had was when my ex and her family were in a karaoke place, and the cops busted in and yelled for every guy to lift their shirts to check for guns. They didn't ask me to, I guess because I was the only foreigner, and I felt both elated that they were checking for guns and promoting safety, but at the same time--#######--is it common for guys to carry guns when they're drinking??? I guess. Have fun!
