I'm filing for a K-1 and K-2 applicant. Do I send one check for the total $1705 or do I send 2 checks, with the filing fee for each applicant? I have been reading about people getting RFEs because they don't send 2 checks, is that correct?

It is my impression that you can do it either way, one check or two checks.

I don't know where you have been reading, but I sent in my wife [K-1] and stepson's [K-2] (19 y.o. at the time of application) AOS application packets with one check in the amount of $2140 ($985 for the I-485 filing and $85 for the biometrics fee, for each applicant), payable to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, via USPS (delivery confirmation requested) to the Chicago Lockbox address, and had NO issues.

guides6ly.gif (accessible at the top of the forum page). In particular, the K2 AOS Tips for details: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k2-visa-adjustment-of-status-tips

Additionally, here are the Form I-485 instructions: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-485instr.pdf

Good luck.
