Well, let me try to explain something, in case it's not trolling.

Saying that you don't like an entire group of people will not lead to you making new friends or broadening your horizons. I would suggest you reevaluate what you like and don't like, and try meeting some black people and getting to know them. Perhaps you'll find that they are not so different from you and others you don't dislike.

One thing I absolutely loved about my family coming over from Mongolia is that they are totally colorblind here in the U.S. My kids will walk up to a group of black guys, playing basketball and ask to join them. We're talking about 10, 13, 15 year old kids wanting to play with guys in their early twenties -- I was pretty sure they wouldn't want to play with them because they would drop the level of the game, but they let them in and gave them the ball as much as they could. My kids didn't care what color the guys were -- they just wanted to play. They weren't worried about not being a part of their community or being of the same race, or whatever else. The guys didn't care that the kids didn't speak English or were much shorter than everyone else, nor did they care that they weren't also black: they let them play. I think if you show a little bit of friendliness, you can be accepted by anyone.

Another funny anecdote is that I had taught my kids that the n word is a bad word, but I didn't explain the history behind it or the racial connotations. My older son almost got into a fight with a Korean kid because he kept calling him #######' and my son thought he was trying to be insulting.

You can't speak for EVERY black and white person, just because you have not reduced your feelings of racism and I have. It is unfair to me that I have to deal with someone else's racism. Regardless of if they have not reduced their racism it is still nice to be respectful to EVERYONE regardless of race.

And the grocery store person was just mad to see a black person with money that does not have to use food stamps, again not my fault, her fault.

Truth.

Glad that you have met one good black person in your life. Now, all you have to do is stop being judgmental and stop generalizing people you could meet plenty of more good black people if you would just open up your mind.

You know what I love about all of the people I know? They are all different races, they all have something unique about them and they understand that there will be good and bad people in the world and being of a certain race does not guarantee if a person is good or bad.

Where have you been? I've been the spokesperson for like a year now. We need more like you in here so I can take a vacationdancin5hr.gif

Oh my god.

One thing at a time Penny. We will have to work on the gays after we get him to stop hating black folks.

Not really. You have this broad perception of black people. Could be where you were raised, could be who you interact with on a daily basis.

We are not all gangsters and drug dealers. We have bad elements, but as I pointed out before, there isn't a race in this country that has to deal with what we've endured forever now. And what's worse, when we break the stereotype, you fall right back on it and use it as a reason to be racist. How can we overcome the hatred when if we do right and follow the right path, you use the folks who don't against the folks who never act like that.

You said a while ago, if you saw an application with a black name, you wouldn't look at it unless it was superb. As MBD and Ghandi pointed out, this is the reason AA was created in the first place. If you want merit to be the forefront, you need to look past the name and color and focus on the work ethic, credentials, and attitude of the person you want to hire.

Blacks and whites have worked on it for a while, but when you start spouting ####### like drugs and gold teeth, it will go sideways. Try to gain an understanding of one another, instead of trying to win the argumen

Good point Su and Marvin,

Not only this, but if there are more people out there throwing out apps because the names are black on it, how can people change when there are limited opportunities?

People's instincts are to survive. If they cannot get a job then they have to turn to other alternatives which isn't fair because they didn't get a job simply because of their skin. Just perpetuating the cycle.

Yep, folks turn a blind eye to this because they want to put the blame solely on the black community.

Everyone knows there were gays in the military. In Sicily, we had a dude in PSD that had a full blown perm in his hair. This was early 2002. He did nothing to hide it, just never said it out loud.

Glad you dropped in, your contributions help.

You are welcome. Sorry you been at this by your self sometimes, I will be sure to drop in and comment more often. yes.gif

Sounds like we have some good people on here. People should be on forums to help each other out, this process sucks. I am hoping I will be finished soon, so other than work, yahoo (which they are even worse on there), I come to visa journey for some encouragement.

You would assume, considering that a majority of the users, or maybe even all of the users, are on here bringing someone to the U.S. from another country, that racism wouldn't be a very common thing here.

1. I like that you call me Ghandi

2. Teddy usually is closer to me in the black debates.

3. I will always side with you over folks like Nib. I will never ever ever agree with anyone that judges another person based on something that cannot be changed. Fortunately that leaves me open to make fun of the fatties. dancin5hr.gif

I highlighted this earlier in this thread. There is always room for some folks to hate blacks or browns.

There's lots of that. You won't get that in the current events and hot social topics forum. In fact, you'll likely not find anything related to immigration timelines or procedures. This forum is just a dumping ground. For what you ask? The usual.

So, you want buds and support, hit up the regional forums. You'll find plenty.
