Did Obama strike the wrong tone on Monday?

Washington (CNN) -- The White House defended President Barack Obama from criticism that he was tone deaf in his reaction to the mass shootings at Washington Navy Yard.

For a second straight day, White House press secretary Jay Carney faced questions about a Monday afternoon event that occurred as the situation at the Navy Yard was still unfolding. Obama touched on the tragedy before forcefully criticizing conservative Republicans who are threatening to shut down the government.

For once, I don't think President Obama made the right call on this one.

“Hate is too great a burden to bear. It injures the hater more than it injures the hated.” – Coretta Scott King

"Oppressive language does more than represent violence; it is violence; does more than represent the limits of knowledge; it limits knowledge." -Toni Morrison

He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it.

I think the fiscal cliff issue should have been brought up at a later time. This was the time to talk about the victims and the shootings.

I watched it on CNN yesterday. I think it's that he brought it up during the speech. Even when I was listening, I thought, maybe this isn't the right time for that.

I agree. I don't see what else he could've said or done that would've helped the situation.

what difference does it make?

It doesn't. You know this is more or less ####### to hate him for. I'm surprised that none of his haters found this before I did.

He couldn't win either way. It's just my opinion, if I were in that position, I would have waited a few days to address it.

Terrorist- hold on…. Calm down it is the case of work place violence what are you talking?

He was a terrorist.

similarly, look at the reactions to the recent developments re: syria. it's almost like some folks are unaware their opinions are being recorded..even though they're paid to spout off on television.
