Honey Boo Boo, as odd as she is, seems to genuinely enjoy doing pageants. They only do them when she wants to and she never wears inappropriate outfits. Just ugly dresses.

From what I've seen and read, she's taught that pageants are about having fun and not about how you look. I don't think I've ever seen or heard of her mother punishing her for not performing well.

1. You have shown incidents of the absurd. Not numbers of what the average kid in a hometown pageant experiences.

I would suggest any PARENT who has a hobby of using their kid this way should be looked at and their fitness questioned.

2. I could show more "sports parents" doing essentially the same thing with their kid.

3. The proposed law bans ALL pageants not just just the extreme cases.

4. I still think the greater danger is to allow the Gov't to over ride parental authority without compelling facts which demand it act.

5. If you notice they are not banning padded bra's or any such item for children.

6. Provide for me fact, numbers, proof that a sizable number of little girls put in local beauty pageants are harmed,

You don't get it, Danno. What I've posted is the culture behind child beauty pageants. You can do more research yourself, if you'd like.

You think we're talking about fun little parades. We aren't. Neither is France.

You go to a child beauty pageant and tell me what you see. The majority of them will be dressed up like adults, fake teeth, fake eyelashes, spray tan, etc. That's not an extreme or an absurd - that's the NORM in child beauty pageants.

This is what I know: the kid does pageants when she wants to, doesn't wear inappropriate outfits, and the money being made from the fame she's received is going to straight to her and her siblings and their education. What a terrible family.

Sorry, yes I have seen pageants, I thought I mentioned in two places that I have lived they have a local "Little Miss Name the town" pageant every year.

These take place all over the country and in many different settings. What is the "Gerber baby" contest if not a beauty pageant>?

I don't have experience with those who make a business of it. But this ban is on ALL pageants.

Who are you to decide for these people?

How does this effect the relationship with your family?

Who are you to decide when a child should wear makeup and eye lashes?

I got an email from my daughter's school saying that the short shorts which have become popular with the girls are too short (my daughter doesn't wear short shorts.)

I agree with France here, really. It's just sad the government intervention has to override the common sense of the parents. Why anyone would want their daughter dressing like a stripper is beyond me.
