Hi everyone !

I am Delphine (24) and I live in Reunion Island (a little piece of France in the Indian Ocean). My tiny half, Mark, lives in Cincinnati and is 27.

We met in April 2012 through a languague exchange program, he was looking for South Africaners speakers when he found my profile. We started to exchange (looooong) emails about our culture, countries and we actually ended up talking about ourselves and liked what we found.

I went to the States in August 2012 for 3 weeks when we became official. We had a hard time being apart when I went back, so we decided that before I started my job (I had just graduated in July) I would come over for 3 months.

I went to live with his family from October to January, it was a total blast and we are so happy we were fortunate enough to do this.

He came to met my family and visit my tiny island in April 2013 for 2.5 weeks. Our last trip was in Paris in September 2013 where he popped THE question ! We are so happy and so are our families.

We are planning to start the paperwork is January (we would like to pay off loans first), and Markie should come for Christmas to visit my family and throw our engagement party with my friends and family.

We both would like to thank all of you guys for making this website such an amazing place !

Hello Delphine, and welcome on VJ :)

Great idea to start gathering informations about the process early. Never stop doing that! there's a lot of paperwork to do to immigrate to the US (getting the visa first, then adjusting your status, ...etc), but if you read all the instructions for each form carefully, it will make your journey much easier.

Good luck!! :)
