Hello VisaJourney!

I am new here and have a couple of questions. I sent in my I-130 petition for my Indian husband in May (2013) which was received by them on May 28. I began checking the status online in mid June, it has been in 'Initial Review' since I have started checking. When I sent in the petition I sent it to the Chicago Lockbox which was supposed to forward it to the Vermont Service Center. However, when I had recieved my receipt in the mail, it was actually from National Benefits Center in Overland Park, Ks. There is no option for Overland Pk. in any drop down boxes. My first question is are there any other I-130 petitoners that have or are being serviced through the Overland Pk office? If so, any advice or upates? My husband and I were married in February of this year Mumbai, India. I stayed there till April, came back to the States and got my documents in order and sent in the petition. After I took care of that, I started the process of changing my surname to my husbands surname and updating all my identifications with the name change. I filed petition in my maiden name which was my then legal name. I called the USCIS Customer Service Line today and asked them how to go about updating them with my name change. They told me that since my petition was currently pending to write a letter and attach copies of supporting documents (ATTN INFO CHANGE on envelope) and send that to the service center. Sounds easy enough, however it later dawned on me that Chicago Lockbox forwarded it to Overland Pk. and not Vermont. I never find any info on any websites regarding Overland Pk. So I am curious if I send it to Vermont or Overland Pk?? I think Overland Pk. What do you guys think?? Thought I would write my situation here to be helpful for others who may be having the same issue and to see if anyone else has had the same deal as me where they later had to update name change. Your insight, input, advice is greatly appreciated. Wishing you all well with your relationships shifting to AMERICA!

Congratulations on getting married... And that photo of you and your husband is absolutely stunning.

(To answer your question, send in copies of your new SS card and drivers license shoeing your new last name. Call back and ask them where to send it.)

Thanks so much!! The wedding in India was quite the experience as I am Native American and Puerto Rican! Thanks for the advice. Making copies tomorrow and sending them in. Will probably call angain to make sure to send to Overland Pk. or not.

Oh, I am also being serviced by the national benefits center. I know the drop down menu says Vermont. I think that their website needs some updating. Build your timeline here and compare it to others to get an idea. The I-130 phase takes on the average of 5-7 months.

if you call uscis they quote 8-12 months now :(

new facility will improve that quickly I hope

Perhaps I wll build my timeline. I did look at it earlier and I was greatly overwhelmed by it!

8-12 months is entirely too long! Even 6 months is!! I was married only 6wks or so before I had to depart from my husband!!!

I also hope that Overland Pk. will start to pick up the pace soon!!
