Hello Cambodian petitioners:

I hope you can shares some of your experiences and in turn I will share these information to fellow Khmer who also are in the process of K1.

1- Did you front load the evidence of relationship ( phone log, email etc..) OR wait to submit them at the time of interview in Phnom Penh.

2- How did the embassy get packet 3 to you? Was it sent to you from Cambodia OR your fiance(e) received it in Cambodia.

3- How packet 4 get to you or your fiance(e)

4- I would appreciate your brief/detailed experiences about your process and interview at the Phnom Penh embassy. It is very valuable to read firsthand

account of the people who went through the interview.

Thanks

Recently many Cambodian petitioners had their interview. I think they just haven't had a chance to settle down yet, hence, not yet able to share their review thouroughly.

Well, let me share mine, at least what applies to me so far.

1- Did you front load the evidence of relationship ( phone log, email etc..) OR wait to submit them at the time of interview in Phnom Penh.

I wouldn't consider mine has front load. I did provide the phone log, pictures, ect as I felt that it was part of the "evidence of relationship".

2- How did the embassy get packet 3 to you? Was it sent to you from Cambodia OR your fiance(e) received it in Cambodia.

The embassy mail out the packet 3 - hard copy to the USC. However this came 3 weeks after my email sent to the embassy inquiring about the receipt of my case. In their reply they provided a link to packet 3 that you can start gathering etc.

3- How packet 4 get to you or your fiance(e)

Hard copy of the appointment letter along with the checklist (packet 4) was mail out to USC. I recieved it about 1 month after they schedule/post the interview appointment online.

Thanks Stevie b and Nob Jet.

Nob Jet,

Your answer to the questions really makes me happy and believe that there will be other Khmer petitioners who will be sharing their experiences soon.

I see that your fiance's interview is just around the corner. I wish you both luck.

Thanks

Thanks! Good luck to everybody else on their journey as well. I learned alot from this forum so it only makes sense to pass it on so others can benefit like I did.

Hi Nob Jet and Honi:

I checked your timeline and see you one step head of me. I just got case number from NVC but I dont have hardcopy yet. From what I read VJ I need to send i134 to my fiancee. And I also will her fill out ds 230, ds-156k and OF-169 for her too and will send to her too. Should I fill all these now or wait for hardcopy from NVC and embassy in cambodia.

My question what evidence they need to approve that we in relatioship. All I have pic of us year ago, and call her ever now and than. But I use phone card to call her will they count as approve of our relationship.

As I waiting for hardcopy from NVC should my fiancee start doing her;

medical examintation

a certificate of legal capacity to marry

birth certifiates

police records

Sorry for long lists

Congrats to you and your fiancee

hope & pray,

I would wait until you are contacted by the Embassy for your fiancee to start her police checks & medical. These docs are time sensitive, particularly the police check at only 3 months. Once the Embassy contacts you with Packet 3, submit what they ask for, and your interview should be issued in 2 months. As for the birth certificate & certificate of legal capacity to marry, she could probably get these now as they are not time sensitive.

Good luck! smile.png

What you need to do now while you wait for the embassy to recieve your case:

Fill out I134 and gather all the document that support that form: employment letter, bank account verification, life insurance if you have it, copy of W2, copies of pay stub for at least 6 months if you have it.

Fill out the other form for your fiancee and make a note on where she needs to sign and date.

Once of have all of the above mail it to her. If she recieves the document prior to you hearing from the embassy then it is OK. Tell her to wait and hold on to it. Then as soon as you find out that the embassy received your case and ready for Packet 3 you can tell your fiancee to sign and date and mail it to the embassy on the same day. No time is wasted.

After the embassy process packet 3 they will issue you your interview date and once you get the interview date is when you go out and do your medical and gather all other documents that is required at the time of interview.

Now we are talking. That is very good to see clear responses to the questions from other petitioners who have gone through the same process in Phnom Penh. Hope others will chip in.

Cheer everybody !!!
