I had that option but the cold and taxes scared me away. Oh and beer prices.

90% of Canadians live within a few miles of the border. How can the weather be all that different?

But a country without a huge subculture that is arming itself to the teeth, preparing for an armageddon they are willing to launch themselves if it does not come.... sign me up. Sounds good. Sounds hopeful.

Do what ?

Val you are kidding right

Being liberal is like being hipster. No matter how liberal you are, someone else is more liberal than you are and calling you a sellout.

That's what someone here told me, yes. That makes it okay to call him "the Kenyan" .. they're just leaving the American part out of it, but it's totally implied!!

It's ok to call my name dear

I think you know who is not on right now

also I never said the American part is implied, I think

All I was saying is I don't see how pointing out his country of ancestral origin can be racist but country is not

Its different because I live in KY, not the north. So the weather is pretty different.

I'm telling you all, move to Canada. This country is arming to the teeth, it will look like late 20th century Afghanistan in a hundred years.

Think of your kids.

I've tried.

One of my colleagues was raving about KY just the other day. "The most beautiful part of the world I've ever been to". He says he's found some kind of development there where everyone's from "around here" (the northeast) so it's perfect.

Was it you? I honestly didn't remember so I didn't want to pin it on you if you didn't actually say it.

You did try to tell me they meant "Kenyan-American" ... which is silly. Referring to someone as their "ancestral origin" rather than their name doesn't make sense unless someone's trying to use it as a slight against the person somehow.

Nobody's ever called him "Kenyan-American" in a conversation here. Ever. They always leave out that American part - why do you think that is?

True dat. My wife is from Windsor, just on the other side of the Detroit River, they get the exact same whether as we do here in Boston. If I had a dollar for every eejit that asked her about the harsh Canadian winters, or how she likes the warmer weather here in Boston, I could retire.

I've experienced the opposite. When I moved here, people would warn me about the harsh Wisconsin winters I was about to experience. The weather is exactly the same.
