Biometrics appointment - Removal of Conditions

The good news is that we sent our application for Vinko's ROC last weekend and we got the NOA1 today! However, I just looked at timelines for ROC and see that biometrics appointments are usually scheduled for a month after applications are sent. Vinko and I are travelling to Chile on 10/9/13 and will be there for two weeks, and I am afraid that the appointment will fall during this travel.

I have seen a variety of posts on this, and it appears that people are successful in getting this taken care of by going to their local USCIS office early via walk-in, demonstrating the documents that show that the original appointment cannot be met. Therefore, I am hopeful that either the biometrics is scheduled before we leave or that we can do the walk-in option. Please, if anyone else knows about this, concur with information, especially anyone who's gone to the Cleveland office to do such! Your answers are highly appreciated!

I-751 Removal of Conditions sent - 9/7/13
