Arrived home late today from Europe/Middle East. I contacted the NVC and have an RDJ# assigned (15 Dec). Can't wait to collect my mail from the USPS and get more info as I'm leaving for Brazil on Saturday.

Did I say this website and riblet have keep me from going insane the past few weeks while I've been travelling? Thanks everyone ... especially riblet.

One detail to add...not filing the I-824 (going for the K3/AOS route...just want her here!!!)...papers still not at embassy (probably due to the holiday delivery rush and the embassy probably taking it easy).

Riblet, what's the new policY??? :(

please add me and my husband on the list.... By the way, just wanted some clarification, i am really confuse. Husband received already the NOA-2 from CSC for our I-130 and it says our case was SENT to NVC and blah blah blah...! And on the other hand, we are still waiting for our I-129F NOA-2 (hard copy) from VSC. Our papers was sent to different service centers (CSC & VSC) so, im really confused about the new policy of I-130 being retained once I-129F is approve? We wanted the best and fastest route so, give us some insights which one to take. Thanks a lot!!!!1

If your NOA2 says it will be forwarded then it will be forwarded .....may take some time but it should happen. Ours took a month to get to the NVC.

The I-824 isnt necessary unless the USCIS says it will retain your I-130 petition AND you do NOT want to do AOS in the states. If you petition is retained and you want to do your CR-1 interview in your native country , then you need the I-824, otherwise you're wasting your money and filing unnecessary paperwork. If your petition is retained and you will do your AOS in the US , again the I-824 isnt necessary.

It shouldn't apply to you knowledge :) Just to people who have also filed for K3.

Basically, it looks like if you have an approved I129F and then your I130 gets approved, they are going to hold your approved I130 and not send it to the NVC because they assume you will enter the U.S. on the K3 and adjust status rather than having the CR/IR1 processed at the consulate. If you want them to send it on to NVC after they retain it you have to file a I824 and pay $200. It's still not a 100% clear if just filing for K3 is enough, or if the K3 has to be approved.

Good luck with the rest of everything :) I hope you get an approval very soon - when you do, check in on the Montreal Timeline to Interveiw thread if you haven't already!

Riblet, what's the new policY??? :(

Just saw your reply, thanks a lot Riplet! it helps to try to understand a bit more...in the past of what i have read, they did not use the procedure of mixing the petitions...each was treated separately from the other...That's why we followed only 1 route...seeing both were treated almost in the same time since a while...it saved also a bit of money...Happy new year!....
