Actually, leaving is one of the worse thing you could do.

Your wife is NOT here on a visa. Overstaying isn't a thing for her. She is a legal permanent resident and has the right to live here.

You have applied for ROC in the 90 days prior to the expiration, as is your responsibility, and you are waiting on proof of that fact. That's all.

Just sit tight and relax. She doesn't have to leave.

I have a friend who's wife has not gotten her 10 year green card yet. They keep extending her 2 year one. He made an appointment with info pass and they made the extension. Now here is the funny part she is has an appointment today to take her citizenship test. our government at work)))

OK. So my wife called USCIS again yesterday, and apparently you have a one month grace period once your green card expires before they would begin conducting an investigation on you. We expect to get the receipt before this one month is up . . . Therefore, she won't be leaving the country . . . phew . . . now we can relax on that and wait for the next hurdle.

disclaimer: don't take my word on this logic, in case you get in a similar situation. This is our understanding/interpretation of the situation, we obviously are NOT the ones enforcing them.

OK, another question though:

We understand that my wife's driver's licence won't be valid this Friday, as her temp green card expires then. Basically you can't have a driver's licence without a valid visa or green card. So we understand that my wife won't be driving starting Friday . . . is there a way that she can get a temp. drivers licence until she gets her permanent green card?

Thank you

The extension letter is proof of legal status. Once you have it, use it to extend the DL.
