I'm sure it has been asked a couple of times but, i'm still waiting for my packet 3 and was taking some advance.....

does the Affidavit of Support (i-134) is to be sent to the Embassy when i received packet 3 or is it to be brought to the interview?

Thx a lot for your help!

Thx MaeLey !

Do you think it's the same for the Embassy in France? Where could i find this information?

Is there a French person who can tell me if i'll have to send the i-134 with packet 3 or if i'll have to bring it to the interview?

Go atop any VJ page, click "Embassy Info," find your embassy, and read the requirements. You can also e-mail the embassy, using the contact information in that link. :)

*** Thread moved from K-1 Process forum to the Embassy/Consulate forum -- topic involves that phase. ***

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Oh i found ! Do you confirm i have to send this to the Embassy? Did you have to send something more, like the i-134 form?

Thx in advance!! :-)

What forms should be send back to the Consulate? DS-2001 Notification of Applicant Readiness (to send back ONLY when you have all the documents in the checklist ready)
DS-230 Part I

You can send the DS-230 Part I first, if you don't have all the documents in the checklist ready, and then send the DS-2001 later
OR
Send both together if you have already all the documents in the checklist ready when you receive the Packet 3. I recommend that you gather all those documents before receiving the packet 3, so you don't lose more time in the process.

Hi,

I believe you have to bring all your communication paper, but let it be organized. It may be asked by the immigration officer.

Yes William and thank you!

I'm going to do that.

I was just wondering whether i had to send to the Embassy (before the interview) the i-134 form, but apparently no, i'll just have to bring it.

Have a nice day!

I wrote that on the Paris VJ page. These are the only 2 forms that you will send back to the embassy. You will bring all the other documents at your interview with you.

But do not send back anything if you still haven't received the packet 3 yet. Just have everything ready for now. All the forms are in the packet 3 but you can find online the DS-230 and prepare it already (as well as others that you will bring to your interview), no need to find the DS-2001 online, it's a pretty straight-forward form.

It's all explained in the packet 3.
