I just got this checklist email from the NVC - I thought our application would be complete by now - apparently requesting a DS-260!! Is this something new? We already submitted the DS-230 two months ago! Does this also mean we have to resend supporting documents??

All traveling immigrant visa applicants on your case are required to complete and submit the DS-260
Online Immigrant Visa Application. The DS-260 Online Immigrant Visa Application replaces the
paper-based DS-230 Immigrant Visa Application. The DS-260 must be completed when NVC is still
missing documents or information to complete your case. You must complete the DS-260 in order to be
eligible for a visa interview.
You will find instructions for submitting the required forms and supporting civil documents at
http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_5164.html.
Please note the applicant will need the following information to access and complete the DS-260:
· NVC case number
· Invoice identification number
· Beneficiary identification number for each traveling applicant
If you are unsure of, or no longer have, the required identification numbers please contact the NVC by
email at nvcinquiry@state.govor by telephone at 603-334-0700 and we will provide them to you.
To avoid delaying your visa(s) we urge you to send the required supporting civil documents, for all
applicants, together in a single submission as soon as possible after submitting the DS-260.
Your case may be involved with paperless processes for submitting forms and documents. At this time,
the availability of paperless processing is limited to selected U.S. Embassies and Consulates. A list of
participating Embassies and Consulates can be found at
http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_5165.html.

Yes, the online DS-260 has replaced the DS-230 at the begining of this month; even for China (both electronic and non-electronic cases). If you received notification from the NVC that you need to complete a DS-260, then one will have to be completed. You shouldn't have to send the documents again.

If the application is now complete except for the 260, I'd call them to verify before filling out the 260. There's a horrendous lag between when they receive docs and when they request more info. The old right-hand left-hand thing. I got a cover sheet asking for stuff I'd sent in 3 weeks earlier.

I logged on to the CEAC site today and it told me I needed to fill out the 260 before our application will be complete. My wife had her interview yesterday based on the now-defunct DS-230 and is already approved.

Sounds like you may have missed the cutoff by days, but I'd call to see if you squeaked through.

Of course if may be quicker to just fill out the 260 than to wait for an NVC operator to answer.
