I currently work from home as a consultant for a company in the UK via a VPN (Virtual Private Network.) I log on via the Internet to their company systems exactly as if I had a desk in their offices. It works well for me although I do also work a separate job away from my home a couple of days a week which I find is great as I miss 'real' people contact.

The plus for me is that I can work it around anything else I am doing at home and at times to suit me, the minus being missing out on the interraction with people.

Permanent Resident Since 01/03/2007

N-400 application mailed 3/20/17

Credit card charged 3/25/17

NOA 3/31/17

I work from home as a Software Localization Engineer and I like it a lot. The best plus for me is the commute (approx 3 seconds from bedroom to office) as oppossed to the hour long train journey then walk in the rain I used to have back in Dublin, Ireland.

I am working at the same job I used to work at back in Ireland, I just do it remotely now and before I started working from home after I got to the US, most people I spoke with that did the same thing said their biggest issue was missing the 'real' people contact as Candace mentioned, but to be honest, I am happy to just work away, get my stuff done, send it across the VPN to the head office and have my 'real' people contact when my wife gets home from work. :)

what type of "work" do you want to do? There are dozens upon dozens of home based businesses you could do. Do you have a job in mind? Do you want to sell products, stuff envelopes, make jewelry, or do computer work or or or?

I sell Watkins from my home to supplement our full time jobs income, and I also advertise on this Home Party Plan Network website, as well as a couple others for work at home mothers (even tho I'm not a mother).

To work from home you have to be really disiplined, get up every morning and do the work that needs to be done, rather than sit there in your jammies and watch TV. Some people are better at that than others.

If you're looking at stuff to sell type jobs, watch out for MLM companies that require you to buy huge amounts of product for stock/inventory. You'll just end up with a garage full of ####### you don't need and can't sell. Also, check the Better Business Bureau for information on any company you plan to work for.

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

PLEASE DO NOT PRIVATE MESSAGE ME OR EMAIL ME. I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT CURRENT US IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES!!!!!
