Interview date received on same day as case-complete notice

Seems weird to me. On the same day (September 12) we received the case-complete email for my wife, we also received (15 hours later) the interview letter (P4) email (interview scheduled for November 4 at 9:30 AM). We're using EP.

We quickly ran through the list of documents in the P4, and several of the comments in the "you must bring" and "document list" sections were confusing. I quote the confusing instructions:

You must bring "Photocopies of all civil documents"

Is this referring to the notarial documents (birth certificate, marriage certificate, police report)? The consulate will already have the scanned copies and also the originals (which my wife will bring to the document intake). But do they also want an additional copy of these documents from her?

"Financial evidence" (marked with status "S", meaning that the original(s) are desired.)

Is this referring to the I-864? That's the only "original" (with my signature) I can think of. Or do they also want my original 1099s? I mean, my "original" tax returns are with the IRS.

"China - Mainland Police Certificate" (marked with status "Y", meaning "The NVC sent this form or document to the embassy or consulate.")

What does this mean? They don't need the original notarial police report?

Also, the GUZ P3 Supplement (which we submitted as part of the DS-230 package) is marked with status "F" ("The NVC did not request this form or document.")

So is this document no longer being used?

One other question: Other than bringing the medical examination results/documents and the documents specified on the P4, is there anything else that needs to be done between now and the actual interview? I can't think of anything, but I want to make sure I'm not overlooking anything.

Thanks!

Hey - Congratulations !

'This' is how is used to work - for appointment scheduling at GUZ when using EP at NVC. Yay !

---

You must bring "Photocopies of all civil documents" - misprint, IMO. Bring Original White books, notarial translations of her chinese civil docs.

"Financial evidence" (marked with status "S", meaning that the original(s) are desired.) - Original I-864 with your original signature. No scans, no photocopies - the original with your signature. RE: Tax Documents for prior year income - Whatever you submitted into NVC - bring those 'originals'. Example - you give complete return for 2011 and 2012? Make certain she has original of what you scanned.

"China - Mainland Police Certificate" - smells like a misprint - She needs the original Notarial Police Certificate White Book thingie, to give over on interview day.

Also, the GUZ P3 Supplement - smells like another misprint - They wanted my wife's original on interview day.

Other than bringing the medical examination results/documents and the documents specified on the P4, is there anything else that needs to be done between now and the actual interview? Yup.

1. medical exam - bring the printed P4 into the medical place. good news? It's about 120 meters from the consulate.

2. Document Delivery coverpage - make an account on ustraveldocs.com and generate one. I've referenced this in my EP topic in the China sub-forum. She has to hand this over on interview day. GUZ IV uses it to send the packet off to the CITIC bank location chosen (by you or her) online at the ustraveldocs.com website.

3. Have certified copies of your divorce decrees? She needs them, in her hand, for interview day.

4. After interview, can track status of visa packet delivery at ustraveldocs.com

5. Can also check status of casefile NOW and all the way through to after interview day over at ceac.state.gov

That's it, for now. I'm dead sorry - that P4 letter smells like some yahoo decided to do a major revision. My P4 is up in my EP topic, all pages, you can compare.

Congrats on superfast interview setting - Since May 5, it's been taking about 40 days to get this set. I pray folk coming after you have the fast scheduling as well. it was always a boon, when NVC was doing that. I'm super pumped to read about it happening again.

FWIW - the case complete email is sent out about a week after actual case complete at NVC. You can view my timeticks in my profile, get some idea on what when down for me.

It's not a push notification - she has to check online at that ustraveldocs website. You could check also, entrance into the site is bilingual (you choose each time) - English or Chinese.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

1. Doesn't matter. CBP staff at each desk already trained to handle the intake for a first time immigrant. Choose the smaller line.

2. The entire casefile, from I-130 submittal, NVC Doc Intake, FBI reports, other name check reports, Consular Notes, her CIVIL docs, etc etc etc. She's going to become a highly paid courier (paid by you, dangnabit) for the DoS. As to 'why it is sealed' - it's a 'chain of evidence' thing - it has to arrive at the CBP/POE office unopened, or all kinds of crazy things kick in smacking of document tampering and visa fraud.

Yeah, I already created an account for her, filled in her profile, and generated the cover page for the CITIC bank that appeared to be closest to our apartment.

It's very interesting that this site isn't even mentioned in the P4 (for EP), nor is the need to generate the cover page. So what happens when an unsuspecting would-be immigrant using EP shows up at their interview without the cover page? Would the consulate REALLY have the audacity to make the immigrant come back another day months later when it's the consulate's mistake?

oh, there's some reasonable expectation that folk are reading the immigrant visa info page for Guangzhou IV.

Believe me - I almost glossed over it when they changed it from 'full info' to 'scant info' in March of this year. It's barely mentioned, but is mentioned, in a smallish sentence.

I am just as peeved as you are, that it's not in the P4 interview letter. It should be.

As of Oct. 8, the GZ Supplemental form is not being collected on interview day. My P4 indicated that the form wasn't even forwarded to GZ. The NVC was requiring it in August, but apparently phased it out in Sept. or for Oct. interviews. I think it's been replaced by the traveldocs site registration.

The last time I re-entered the US, I asked whether my wife should go through the citizen or foreigner lines at the point of entry. The answer I got is that if she comes in with me, we can come through the citizen line together. If she comes by herself, she should go through the foreign visitor side. That's one agent's take in Detroit. Don't know how widely held that view is.
