They go through rounds of other competitions, and each state winner was the best in their state, this year.

They aren't voted on being the "most typically American."

The whole "diversity is our greatest strength" refrain we hear repeated so often with no follow up explanation.

At best diversity is meaningless (at least in the way they mean it).

In reality you can't even organize a company party without diversity of people being the main problem when you decide on what food to order, music to play, or even what the theme will be.

What's with them referring to themselves as Indians? I thought it was Native Americans?

No it's Indians, or natives, to them.

My friend actually says "dot Indians" and "feather Indians," the latter referring to herself. Where I grew up people said "east Indians" for the country.

But it would seem the women might not "represent a wide swath of America"... for one she suggests the whole country should resemble what immigration has done to NY.

I don't think a poll would back her up.

Nothing wrong with Diversity. I organized a birthday party last night , that had 4 races 5 nationalities and was a hoot.

However somehow thinking it is what makes are nation strong is utter progressive hoarse feathers.

what makes a nation strong is unity of purpose, common goals, work ethics, integrity, compassion, justice and the rule of law and the freedom to achieve your dreams and be rewarded.

That is why when you join the Military conformity is so important. The team being more important than the individual.
