They did when Mr. Dooley killed James, and his SD claim was way better. It only took 24 hours to arrest him, not 44 days. Not to mention Mr. Dooley took the stand in his own defense, something GZ refused to do.

From what I read there were several eye witnesses testified that TD was the aggressor and pulled a gun on James. They testified the other guy tried to grab the gun

He was not charged the day he killed another man. He was arrested only after local protests occured. And there were accounts of him having already turned away from the confrontation and that he had been on his way back home when the victim came after him and tried to wrestle the gun away.
