We have a Loyalist in the house. Now we need a few more and we can be the only site on the Internet where we re-fight the revolutionary war.

I was told yesterday that they're glad I wasn't around for revolutionary war because I said I wanted no part of the modern day revolution.

I felt so non-revolutionary after that...lol

I actually paid attention in my US History classes in college, where everything we learned in high school and before was a little tainted by nationalism.

Did you think when the Japs bombed pearl harbor it was a limited strike and we provoked it

Yes.

They don't mention that this rag tag bunch of idealist are all stinking rich land owners who never pick up a rifle except for George Washington.

Considering I would have no rights even after the revolution being a minority, poor and probably uneducated you could see why I wouldn't give a flying f#ck who won that war.

Today's America is a far cry from their idea of what America should be back then.

Yes.

Depends on how far you go with that. It was a preemptive strike from a caged tiger. The US was trying to limit Japanese expansion from an oil embargo. The japs wanted one strike to break American resolve. That back fired. But its not exactly cause and effect as there WERE other options for all parties.

If our fore fathers had not died for your freedom

You would be speaking British today

Let that sink in

I'd be speaking British, but we'd have universal healthcare long ago. If you didn't notice the British are not living under the Queens rule anymore.

Besides, the British Royal Marines were the forefathers for the USMC

So whatever...

Oh no, we'd be speaking English?

Correction, we'd be speaking proper English...not bastardized American English.

You're going to far to make a point. You're conceding that it would be ok if we were still a British colony just to make a point. Actually, that it would be better. Reign it in bro.

Today's America is a far cry from their idea of what America should be back then.

Fact. Jefferson and others were mesmerized by the likes of Adam Smith and John Locke. Jefferson's vision of America was that of an agrarian nation, with cottage industries, and a minimally intrusive federal government, with most matters being settled by the states and local governments. He despised large national ventures, until President Jefferson found a way to both support his French allies and double the territory of the US by putting the US Government back into debt. (This was after castigating Hamilton for his Federalism.)

Jefferson would have been a good little Communist.

Jefferson also detested big Cities like they had in Britain. Actually Jefferson would hate just about everything this nation has become.
