Legal, lawful gun owners? Aaron Alexis was a legal, lawful gun owner. I know you don't want to hear that but it's true. No law was broken in his acquisition of the firearm with which he murdered a dozen people. Your argument is what fails. Most of these mass murderers lawfully acquired their murder weapons. They were legal, lawful gun owners until they snapped and turned into mass murderers. So yes, there are most certainly some legal, lawful gun owners out there that I'd rather they were disarmed.

And reports of gun purchases without background check requirements are plentiful. Happens every day. If it didn't, nobody would fight to keep those venues open and in business. And yet, that is precisely what the gun lobby continues to do. T them, it's all about gun proliferation and sales. The tens of thousands of dead bodies produced by this campaign is something they walk over over without regret.

A full background check was run to buy the weapon. The shooter had also just obtained a secret clearance

So tell me

You got a guy that has been arrested on numerous occasions for violence and disorderly conduct

was kicked out of the navy

Had severe mental problems and was under treatment for the same

Waltzes on to a secure base, with zero tolerance for guns, that sits inside a city that has zero tolerance for guns, and enters a building with an armed guard and kills 12 people

with a weapon that the anti-gun left has been telling us for years is not part of the problem, that the Vice president even endorsed.

and your answer is take my guns and ban Ar-15's

Priceless.

In neither of the incident gun was purchased thru illegal means without back ground check, anti gun lobby had been screaming and shouting how this is common practice and happens all the time, it just proves them wrong.

As you claim in your second post basically anti gun lobby just wants to disarm every civilian, which is true and their primary motive.

First off, I have not made any such claim as you suggest.

Just because a gun was purchased without a background check does not necessarily mean that it was purchased illegally. There are plenty of legal avenues to purchase a firearm without undergoing a background check. Happens every day. I understand that you do not want to acknowledge that because it is quite destructive to your argument but it is the truth all the same. The fact that many of the mass murderers have acquired their weapons legally and were lawful gun owners does not mean that there isn't much damage done with weapons acquired without background checks by those not able to pass one.

But because these were lawful gun owners until they turned into mass murderers, it is reasonable to be suspicious of lawful gun owners. How is anyone to know who will snap next and where and how many people that gun aficionado will take with him?

At this point, neither side can do anything to immediately solve the problem. So I guess in that sense, maybe you're a little right. content.gif

But the REAL goal for me is not picking individual incidents and saying what can we do? Obviously any solution would not apply to all situations. Some gun owners buy guns to protect themselves from the bad guys with guns. I understand, what your goal is, and my goal is the same. But, I think we can all agree that the majority of gun problems don't occur as a result of decent gun owning and responsible folks. Its the guys who are involved with crime in this country. Its all about lowering the odds for me. Again, we all want the same thing.... We don't want to be shot and killed. I think the best way to solve that is to work toward decreasing the number of guns period. Accepting that the only way we can defend ourselves from a gun is with a gun, is in my mind a defeatist attitude.

How did he get a security clearance (or keep his clearance) after he shot out tires while living in Seattle in what he described as a "blackout rage" incident?

Seems like the background checks aren't digging very deep.

I've suggested that your gun is to be taken and that AR-15s are to be banned because of the mass murder committed by one Aaron Alexis? You're imagination is playing tricks on you again. Maybe you ought to go have yourself checked out. Those delusions can't be good. Certainly not when you have firearms at your disposal. We learned once more what can happen with that combination.

You would think..How does he have that many incidents and not get charged ?

His commander tried to give him a general discharge and was over ruled.

Just follow the natural progression on this issue.

A. Everyone will be armed.

B. Public will be forced to deal with heightened security.

C. These incidents will become even more common than they are now.

Oh and...

D. Gun manufactures will wet their pants.

Read my previous post I have highlighted exactly what you said in red.

You just support disarming the civilian and are willing to take away their constitutional right one of the rights on which this nation was formed.

The truth is anti gun lobby just wants all the guns removed from civilian hand, they refuse to look at the root cause “Mental Health” issues.

My coworkers clearance was held up by two speeding tickets and them wanting more information.

So I find this disturbing.

He could have been working at the Pentagon or Capitol Hill.

It is fairly easy to ascertain that I was referring to the Aaron Alexis' and the Seung-Hui Cho's and whatever other sickos that lawfully own firearms are out there. You rather have them able to legally obtain firearms and be armed? What kind of a sick nut are you?

I met a retired military guy the other day saying he has enough firearms for WWIII because he believes Obama is handing over our country and Obama's supporters will invade soon.

I was scared to death listening to this guy talk.

Mental issues, ex military, licensed gun owner.

Maybe there should be mental evaluations before people are allowed to buy this kind of fire power.

It only proves that our mental health systems need an overhaul. They need to rethink state hospitals in lieu of outpatient care and living on the streets.

Obviously you can't stop all of these...but we should do more.

Then again that cost money so we're screwed again. ;)
