My bad no one here ever brings up race. I was out of line. There have been literally hundreds of posts here telling us how whit men own the spree killer category

Just because he's the Jackie Robinson of spree killings doesn't mean caucasian won't remain on top.

It's not like minorities took over baseball.

Sources told News4 that surveillance footage showed that he began his attack with a shotgun, but was found with a 9mm pistol and an AR-15 assault rifle.

NBC News correspondent Pete Williams is reporting Alexis purchased a shotgun in Lorton, Va. during the past week or so.

The suspected gunman appeared to have seized firearms from two of his victims as he moved through the building along the Anacostia River in southeast Washington, where 3,000 Navy employees go to work each day, many of them carrying authorized firearms.http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/Confirmed-Shooter-at-Navy-Yard-One-Person-Shot-223897891.html

Update on latest NRA membership drive: 4 dead, 8 injured, gun aficionado reportedly down. Did not kill and maim with hands and feet, did not use vehicle or baseball bat. Per news reports, surprisingly opted for assault rifle.

Update...While living in the city a with the most restrictive gun laws in the nation,A man with two arrests for gun violence, who has had extensive back ground checks and weapons training, enters a military base that has a 100% ban on privately owned firearms. Passes through two security checkpoints with Armed guards. Enters a secured building that requires special access, steals weapons from the government and kills 12 people. It takes the police 3 hours to stop him.

and you blame the NRA for enabling him and want me to give up my gun and live in a country in which only the government has guns and will protect me

It was a black sailor.

Poor Marvin

Sounds like he wasn't a sailor, but worked for a company that was contracted to work with the Navy.

Was it about pay? He was very frustrated with the company that contracted him to work for the Navy, according to a friend. Alexis claimed he wasn't paid properly by the company after returning from a months-long assignment to Japan last year, said Michael Ritrovato, a former roommate. It was unclear whether the dispute was over salary or expenses. Alexis just felt the company owed him money and had not paid him, Ritrovato said.

He was a Navy reservist or former Navy reservist. Not clear if we was active or IRR

The guy had mental issues

Lots of people described him as angry and volatile

Why do you say he had a gun fetish? Is there some new info?

There was. I posted it when it came out. Try and keep up.

Friends who knew Alexis in the west Fort Worth neighborhood where he once lived described him as an easygoing guy who practiced Buddhism and spoke fluent Thai -- but who steadily complained about a lack of jobs and money and liked to carry a pistol in his belt.

Ah, the shooter was a gun aficionado. Who would have guessed it? Good guy with a gun. Until he turn bad. Like all the rest of them.

Update, the man was an active gun carrier despite his infractions involving a firearm. THAT is what the NRA enables.

Friends who knew Alexis in the west Fort Worth neighborhood where he once lived described him as an easygoing guy who practiced Buddhism and spoke fluent Thai -- but who steadily complained about a lack of jobs and money and liked to carry a pistol in his belt.

Oh, and nobody but you was talking about you giving up your gun. Talk about delusional.

Marvin I am nothing if not consistent

There is no way anyone did what this guy did and could not have mental issues.

What part I don't understand is, they are saying he sized an M-16 from an officer. I don't ever remember having a locked and loaded M-16, other than on the firing range. I would doubt that base has any weapons training facilities..

That's what people don't understand. It's not a base in the sense you're thinking of. It's more of an industrial complex. There's no exchange or commissary. No family housing or schools. It's more like a little city full of buildings people work in. I'd wager there are more civilians working there than actual sailors. And when I was there, they didn't even have gate guards. That's over at Bolling AFB or Anacostia. Now, if they had gate guards, it's possible to have gotten one from them, because the SP's we have here have 9mms and I've seen some with M16's on their backs.

Affirmative action National Security Style. An otherwise unemployable black male, aged 34, a drifter with a bad discharge, with no important skills, was hired by a Defense Department Contractor to meet that contractors black employment targets. I say black because, obviously hiring an American citizen of Korean , Taiwanese or Brazilian ancestry would not meet DoD/USG standards.

He was only able to find employment after his discharge as a waiter in a Thai immigrants storefront restaurant

He had a security clearance into the most classified US Navy installation as a civilian two years later. He had .a history of gun violence he was able to not only get a security clearance but access to the US Navy SeaSystems Command in Washington, D.C. If you are a white man and come out of your house and start shooting the tires of cars parked in front of your residence I can guarantee you you will be arrested, jailed and be prosecuted. That is a very serious offense. Most likely a felony in all 50 states! Join the armed forces with that in your criminal history?

I guess maybe with today's climate the guards might have loaded M-16's.

Yes I had thought it was mostly an Admin type base.

And let me guess, this would be your argument about hiring black folks?

First of all, the WNY isn't the most classified place you can work for the Navy. Nebraska Ave has a higher requirement. Not to mention the Pentagon, White House Communications, and any other high visibility billet.

Second, you need to open your eyes. Mental illness doens't just apply to white people.
