Eh, lots of cultures also see violence as a form of entertainment, but they don't have the same problem. Perhaps they can see the difference between entertainment and real life a little better than we can? I dunno, I get this impression that in the US, gun = instant hero.

Most posts here by the gun aficionados (we have to refer to them carefully here in order to not hurt their little feelings too much) can leave that impression.

At least 12 people are dead, according to CNN.

Not enough for proper outrage. This country needs +20 killed in order to get a weeks worth of outrage going.

Queue the:

Outrage and then nothing...oh wait, call for more firearms...forgot that part.

Call for more guns is essential. After all, that is why the NRA orchestrates these membership drives.

gunman allegedly identified

At least twelve people are dead after a shooting in a heavily secured building at the D.C. Navy Yard, where as many as two potential gunmen may still be at large.

One gunman, 34-year-old Aaron Alexis of Fort Worth, Texas, is among the twelve dead. Officials said he recently began working as a civilian contractor.

The FBI, which is leading the investigation, believes the gunman used the identification of a man who used to work at Navy Yard, reported Pete Williams of NBC News. It was found next to his body in Building 197, where most of the victims were shot on the third and fourth floors.

People with proper badges are allowed to enter Navy Yard without having their bags checked, Williams reported.
