I see this forum is very helpful. I would like to know on how specifically I can request Police clearance certificate in Russian Federation in the Philippines. I went to russian embassy and russian officer told me, I need a request, he didnt expain to me where the request is coming from, but what I right now I just did a request letter coming from me hope the officer will accept it. I wonder how long it would take for me to receive the police certificate. I would appreciate if you can post any input for me.

Thanks so much!

Hi Mary Elizabeth,

I am also in the same situation though from a differenct country. I lived in Russia for a while and i know i need the police clearance.

This is what i was told when i went to the Russian Consulate: I need to fill in a form which they would forward to the Police Department in Russia and they would issue the certificate.

Later on, they called me and said i need to contact my coutry's consulate in Russia to assist me with the form. I have since contacted my embassy and they are helping me with it. It takes time though and you need a lot of patience since you are dealing with people you do not know.

Maybe you wanna try call the Phillipine Embassy in Russia.

Thx

Thank you so much for your quick response Ahren. Thank for your input. I wonder what date I need to put on my period of stay in Russia. I was issued a mulitple visa and the effectivity date was July 11, 2005 to June 10, 2006.

My travel to Russia was July 17, 2005 (first entry to Russia) to Dec. 22, 2005 which is 5 months *

I exit Dec 22, 2005 (first exit) which is my first trip because my Russian base sponsor went to Bangkok Thailand then we came back to Russia again January 12, 2006.(2nd entry to Russia) So I had stayed again in Russia from January 12, 2006 to March 2, 2006 for 2months* Because from March 2, 2006 (2nd exit) we exit again and come back March 16, 2006 (3rd entry to Russia).

From March 16 to June 9, 2006 (last exit) I stayed again in Russia that is for almost 3 months. All are more than 10 months stayed in Russia. So I really need police clearance isn't it?

My question is what to put on my period of stay in Russia? Shall I jsut put the actual date that I first enter to Russia which is from July 17,2005 to June 9, 2006 which is where I finally exit in the country or shall I need to break down the dates I stayed? though I they will also see i on the attached photocopy of my passport. Thank you very much for all your input and responses.

I think it has to be at least 6 months of continuous stay to foreign country and not the sum of all. I could be wrong on this one

Police and Prison Records

Available. Russian law (MVD Order no. 965, dated November 1, 2001) mandates that the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) provide police certificates both to Russian citizens and to foreigners who have lived or are living in Russia. The law states that in Russia, MVD offices must provide the certificate within 30 days. Those residing outside of Russia, both Russian citizens and non-citizens, may either delegate a Power-of-Attorney to apply for the certificate on their behalf in Russia, or apply directly to the Russian Consulate. Police certificates should note all names that the person has used in Russia, and should note the MVD branches in all locations that were queried.
