Everywhere around the world people are facing the same problem. Why in the world you have to wait so long if they decide to hold the passport. Though you try to call them no answer. I'm going through that same situation. It's been 26 days now still waiting. I don't know what to do. If you can stop at the embassy and see if they will let you in so you can talk to anyone inside. They might give you a better idea.

Yes. I am happy someone in same boat with me. I don't want to wait another 3 months for them to hand back visa. When we call Department of State, they say visa has been issued but still no one has called us to pick up visa.

They can't have the passport for three months cause the visa will expire in 90 days. Sometime they hold for further investigation. Tomorrow I will go get mine. I'll see what they say. Depending on where you are you can stop at the embassy and ask questions.
