Now Marvin, lets be honest here. Societal reasons aside, cops tend to arrest blacks much more, so after enough time, they're naturally going to be more suspicious of blacks. This even happens to black police officers. Its only natural that this happens.

But here's the problem with that. Not every single black is a criminal. And some 66 year old dude smoking outside his house isn't threatening, at least in my eyes. And what's bad is this cause most blacks to react with hostility in situations when none is warranted. There have been qutie a few times, I got asked if I was in a gang, or sold drugs at some point, even though I never dressed or acted in that manner.

It's funny that this perception is so ingrained within out culture. Last week, I was on PS3 online playing The Last of Us. I have a friend on here named tripp that plays with my son and I on a regular basis. We've been playing for a few months now, so about 4 days ago, we're talking on the mics and he just says " hey man, I just figured out you're black." I asked if this was a problem for him. He said no, but I could tell his interactions with black people wasn't a good one. He was shocked that I could talk proper english.

Yeah yeah, you and I are on the same page with stereotypes and innocent people being held to them. But, I'm not ready to jump on board with you in this scenario. Maybe the color of his skin entered the cops mind on a low level, the truth is we prob won't know. Stories like these get elevated not because its a tragedy, but because it confirms someone's claim this way or that. If I look at this story and say, "wow, cops are really shooting people because they are black" then I might as well look at one of Gary's articles and say "Wow, gun owners really are just trying to defend themselves from bad guys"

I'm not ready to believe that there's a large number of white people "cops or not" that are racist to a point to where they want to kill a black guy. This situation is just the latest edition of the race f**k we have here. Maybe this cop has had lots of back interactions with blacks during his time on the street. Maybe the kind that were unprovoked from his point of view. We assume much in these stories. Usually about issues that are quite large and complicated.

Then again, maybe it had nothing to do with him being black. Or Maybe it did. You and I, will likely never know the complete truth so lets keep our speculation somewhat in check.

I almost see the black people I work with as a different race compared to the black people in some of the neighborhoods near mine. They literally have nothing in common except for skin color.

I see some white people as completely alien to me, so what?

As to the article, the police should be trained better and not resort to fire arms so quickly. A person running towards you isn't an imminent threat, a person running towards you waving a weapon might well be.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Come on...a black guy looking for help?

He was bound to get shot.

This is America people!

Terrible...

Ok, let me try this another way:

Look at situations when black men are killed. Oscar grant, Sean Bell, Amadou Diallo, just for a start. And in these cases, all the cops involved were either acquitted, or served under 2 years. How do you mistake your gun for a taser? How do you mistake a wallet for a gun and lob 50 shots before realising there is no gun? I've seen videos of white men in full out brawls and the cops do everything in their power to calm the situation down with words and grappling. But I've seen lone black dudes asking questions and getting beat up side the head with a night stick if they were lucky.

I posted a video here a while back about the white/black bicycle thief. Google it. In the video you have 2 thieves, one black, one white. Check the reactions. The white guy basically stole the bike in broad daylight, with no intervention. The black guy didn't last 5 seconds.
