Hi VJers!

I am currently in the process of preparing my i485, i130, and its supporting documents. I'm hoping i get to send these out before September ends. Now I just have a couple of questions, that I hope you guys could help me out with.

I am the benificiary (the alien spouse), my hubby is the USC petitioner. We both live in Guam. My husband doesn't meet the income requirements for sponsorship, so we are getting my cousin in California to be the joint sponsor. Now here is the situation: My cousin does NOT want to send her ITRs, W2s, and her forms to me (because she doesn't want anyone to see it). She would rather send it directly to USCIS. So our plan is for me to finalize entire package, signed, with checks etc; send the entire package to my cousin in California; cousin will fill up form, put in her supporting documents; and she'll be filing/mailing the entire i130 and i485 package for me from Cali.

Now my question is: does it matter that I am sending it from California instead of Guam? Will the processing of my forms get affected?

Next question: Since I am filing an i485 with i130 and fall under the category of spouse of a USC? Is it correct that I a send it to USCIS PO Box 805887 Chicago, IL 60680-4120? (That's what it says on USCIS website; but i130 instructions PDF form says if i live in guam mail it to Phoenix?)

Sorry for all the questions I'm just a bit confused by the instructions of the PDF instructions and the one on the USCIS website?

help

thanks so much :) :) :)

She is filing I-485 concurrently with a I-130 while in the US.

Here is there story :

My cousin does NOT want to send her ITRs, W2s, and her forms to me (because she doesn't want anyone to see it). She would rather send it directly to USCIS

. So our plan is for me to finalize entire package, signed, with checks etc; send the entire package to my cousin in California; cousin will fill up form, put in her supporting documents; and she'll be filing/mailing the entire i130 and i485 package for me from Cali.

The question is.. Is cousin the petitioner? or a co-sponsor?

It says in the Chicago website .. if you are filing I-130 together with I-485 Application to register Permanent Resident or Adjustment of Status and you live in the United States you can send it to Chicago lockbox...

Correct me if I am wrong with my interpretation...

Combined filing for 485, 130 and 765 send it to the Chicago Lockbox.

Previous to the new 485 form & instructions, residents of Guam were required to make their checks payable to "Treasurer of Guam." I'm not sure this is still the case, but the USCIS website still lists that. See HERE When I filed for my wife and step-daughter (K1 and K2) I sent two separate checks both payble to Treasurer of Guam as per the previous version.

Guam is part of the United States. You can't do a concurrent filing unless you are in the US,

Thanks for your quick replies. My cousin is the CO-SPONSOR. My husband is the PETITIONER, but doesn't meet the requirement to be the sole sponsor.

this is what i read on the website that's why i assumed CHICAGO:

If you are filing because:

You are applying for adjustment of status under one of the following eligibility categories:

Spouse, parent, unmarried son/daughter under age 21 of a U.S. citizen with an approved Form I-130, or filed with Form I-130;

Then file your Form I-485 at:

USCIS Chicago Lockbox

SO i must make check payable to "Treasurer, GUam?"

SO i must make check payable to "Treasurer, GUam?" Even if i send the entire package to Chicago/Phoenix Lockbox? (still trying to figure that one out! Chicago or Phoenix?!?!?!?!)

That is what the link he posted says. Lucky you, for lockbox filing, even if you send it to the wrong lockbox, it will get to where it needs to go. The lockboxes are independent contractors that convert the filings to electronic form for further processing by the USCIS and processes the payments for the Department of Homeland Security, (or the Treasurer of Guam or the Virgin Islands).

Here is a link with different instructions for how to make the check out:

http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=3850a99ba78af110VgnVCM1000004718190aRCRD&vgnextchannel=fe529c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD

I knew that checks were no longer being made out to the USCIS, but rather the Department of Homeland Security. However, I am not sure about the Guam thing, since the link he posted seems to be an orphan.
