Has your mother indicated why she's against the marriage? 30 years out of the house puts you at about my age. Is your mother wondering about grandchildren perhaps? I'm just grasping at straws here.

Hey thanks everybody. This will just have to work itself out. Near as I can figure it's about my parents worry about reputation with their friends. Age difference, size difference, and religion. I think they worry how people will talk about them. Not my problem. It is what it is.

aha !

you should invite their friends over to your place, without your parents,

for a feast or 2 or 10, over a 3 month period.

Then their friends will see what's what, and report back to the parents.

Possibly not work, if your parents are bigots.
