Confused About NBC

I am a little confused about the whole National Benefits Center thing. I always thought that our case would be adjudicated by the local field office (Tampa).

Once we received the case numbers (all start with MSC) and figured out that MSC means they are at the NBC (formerly known as Missouri Service Center). It seems that NBC does not include I-130 and I-485 on their processing time table, so I guess anyone who was sent to NBC can't get a processing time-frame.

I assume that our case will at some point be transferred to the local office in Tampa (please correct me if I am wrong), since they conduct the interview. Should we for this reason go by the processing times for the Tampa field office?

Does everybody's case get send to NBC? Or just cases that have problems and require more or (in some cases) less scrutiny?

I just want to make sure that our case didn't end up at the wrong location.

All family-based AoS cases are initially routed to the NBC, which performs the primary processing before handing the case off to the beneficiary's local office for the interview and final adjudication.
