HELLO EVERYONE

Since I'm jobless now and a divorced permanent resident I want to remove conditions and have the intention to join the Marine Corps.

I'm confused now! I went to the career office there they said I'm qualified because my card is not expired yet I have more than a year on it but I'm divorced. Anyway they have a program for naturalization for recruits at boot camp. Sould I wait for it or no matter what I have to file to remove the conditions after divorce even if I'm in boot camp???????

HELP PLEASE

You can only remove conditions based on marriage (I-751) or based on entrepreneurship (I-829). Since you are divorced, you no longer have the basis for marriage. I'm not sure how the boot camp naturalization works, but it sounds like you need to remove the conditions first to have a pathway to naturalization.

not true, he can still remove conditions with a divorce waiver as long as he can prove he entered into the marriage in good faith

You're right, he can apply for a waiver with the I-751, provided he can show a good faith marriage. Thanks for the correction.

To the OP, the usual documents are required for proof of relationship, plus proof of common domicile, child birth certificates, co-mingling of finances, and anything else that can prove you were legitimate. I'm sure someone with more experience can comment more on specifics to help your case. Good luck.

Depends on the branch of service as to how well that works. My wife tried to go through the naturalization process in basic training too, but the Air Force official there snapped at her and told her they are no longer doing that, and she wasnt in much of a position to argue at that time. They did it for only one of the seven permanent residents in her group. I was pretty upset when I had to watch that ONE doing his oath of naturalization in front of everyone, knowing that 6 others should be up there with him, including my wife.

In the end it worked out ok though. Within 2 months of graduating Basic Military Training my wife was still able to get naturalized at no cost. Got it done at least before having to depart for Ft Lee.

My ex did this. He went in with the 2yr card, finished boot and you have to almost be done with AIT/A-school/whatever it is called for the Corps to job train. Then you fill out the application. I think he said he was told to base it 90 days before he finished, to be sure he became a citizen before his first duty station. if you have a short training you will have to wait til stationed to do it.

Anyway long of the short it can be done. You don't remove any conditions, you skip to citizen. I filled his forms myself for him to submit in 2010 for this while in training. He went from 2yr card to citizen in under 1.5yr. We were married but he knew a Nigeria guy who was in your shoes and he naturalized the same day he did.

We were still together then but he was told it is his right for serving in a conflict/hostile time to naturalize BASED OFF SERVICE not marriage (INA 329 in the policy manual). It is a totally different animal, and Bush signed into law after 9/11 that even one day of service allows you to apply and expedite as well. You however must complete your first enlistment term with no issues or risk having it all revoked. Think of it as conditional citizenship although that rarely happens.

Feel free to PM me for details. I can only speak for Army but it is close.

Check the ROC forum for how to remove conditions on your own and what would be required to show you entered the marriage in good faith.
