When your parents go to jail you usually get to stay in the country.

Ok cool. I'm fine with the kids staying in the country if the parents get locked up. They did break the law after all. Like they say "it was no fault of the children" Someone broke the law to get the kids here. Either the parent law-breakers face the legal music, or they go back to the country of origin. If they don't do one or the other, the kids don't get squat. If they really love their kids and want to make up for the laws they broke in the past, they should be more than willing to do that.

Not only that, what kind of message is this sending? Go ahead and bring your kids here illegally and at some point they'll get legal status? They've done amnesty twice now, and it didn't do one damn thing to reduce illegal immigration. If anything, it encouraged it. They only thing that seems to reduce the flow of illegal immigrants, is the economy going in the tank.

If they want to solve this, they should fine/imprison the people that hire them. I mean big fines and big prison time. Of course the Republicans don't want that because their corporate masters like the cheap labor. The Democrats don't want it because they think they're gonna get votes. I think the Dems need to rethink that position, because pretty much all the legal Hispanic immigrants I've talked to, are totally against any kind of amnesty.

And to anyone that wants to come out and say "we're simply giving them 2 year EADs" That's B.S. as well. It has to lead to permanent residency and citizenship later. What are they gonna do? Live here they're entire life on 2 year EADs? No way.

I'm more frustrated that there is 0 talk about fixing the broken legal immigration system. I know stuff needs to be done about the undocumented and dreamers but I never hear anything about fixing things for people going the legal route. There should be a discussion about both. I make sure to explain the legal process to anyone I talk to so they understand how difficult and expensive it is. So many people say, why doesn't he just come here and you guys get married? They are oblivious that its not legal to do that and the legal way takes many months. Worst part I think is the separation. If we could be together during the wait it would be so much better.

a big ship doesn't just make a u-turn

I am convinced that they are trying to fix the system.. there was a fix last year when local offices were solicited for 130's to get them away from service centers and now there is a new center to handle lots of things

the flood of paperwork came august 2012 and if these are evidences of some of the fixes, I think they are not doing that badly considering how long things take government or otherwise

I'm in total agreement with fining the employers. I've always said that is the only way to stop the illegal immigration from south America.

If there is no job here, nobody is coming to just hang around. Matter of a fact most illegals would gladly move back to their country if they had a job there...and many move back at some point.

But we don't do anything about the employers because of the votes. Which is bulls#it because these are the same people complaining about the illegals?

No incentive to come here...no immigration issue.

There's two political parties in this country. One is beholden to corporations and religious nuts. The other to minorities, lazy people, and unions. They both have a vested interest in allowing illegal immigration to continue.

I think the compassion angle is a good one, but personally, I am more convinced by a different angle that this is a good thing to do. These people got their education here and were raised here, and now they should turn around and use that education to work and pay taxes, paying it all back into the US system. I want the nation to benefit from their tax money, their education, and hopefully some ingenuity, instead of kicking them out to put their American education to good use in Mexico. I'd rather they put it to use here.

Agreed. It's not about "rights".

Mexico would be a brighter place if'n all those eligible for DACA would go back to Mexico..

Yes, that's IMO.

I don't agree entirely. The democrats aren't assisting lazy people. There are people that abuse the system I agree, but in order to assist those in need of course some abuse the system. Just like they do with farm subsidies, corporate welfare and tax loopholes for the wealthy.

The basic democratic agenda is to look out for those that the GOP would just assume crush. Is that happening anymore? Who knows.

Ultimately neither party is helping anyone anymore...they only help themselves. This entire charade is to keep us divided in order for them to continue their inability to do anything meaningful and continue lining their pockets.

Face it...this two party system is a well thought out scam and it's agenda is paper thin at this point.

As our good friend Gary used to point out, he could pull in $45k plus a year in govt. handouts. When the poverty line is ~$17k a year, that's not bad. Not much incentive to get off your a$$ and get a job. I'll guarantee it aint the GOP championing those programs. I don't know who came up with it, but they have this thing called Earned Income Tax Credit, where the IRS GIVES you money, even if you don't pay taxes. It's not a tax refund. I'd call that assisting lazy people. At least the people I've seen getting it were lazy.

How do we all feel about illegals being able to obtain DLs in California?!

Get 'em all on a list ready for deportation dancin5hr.gif

actually.. it would make getting in an accident a lot safer (financially) .. it would be easier for them to buy car insurance!!!

How the ###### do you even know what crack cooking smells like.

I don't think you realize it, but it appears you don't live in a nice neighborhood.
