The DS-260 is being used for IMMIGRANT visas. K visas are non-immigrant. Read it like this... the top paragraph tells us how the 260 is replacing the paper 230. Then some other stuff... blah blah blah. And in the last paragraph, oh by the way, the 260 is not used for K visas.

Nice break down ;)

By the way "blah blah blah" is an actual government term! Lol

Hello Hank,

First let me say that if anyone ever asked if you ever changed a life in a positive way, you are one man that can honestly reply back " in more ways than I can count "

On behalf of a whole lot of people on this site, I say thank you.

Here is where I am getting confused Hank, let me say this, I am a very black and white type personality.

So when I read the following : "The Immigrant Visa Unit only accepts K visa applicants (K1, K2, K3, and K4) who have completed DS-156, DS-156K (for K1 applicants only), DS-157, and DS-230 application forms."

I read it as this, since you are going to the interview WITH completed DS-156, DS-156K, DS-157, and DS-230, then you are required to complete the DS-260.

You see it does not say anything like if they have been completed, received, and filed prior to the date of your interview.

See where my confusion is coming in?

hey..i told u..why keep u confusing yourself... ive been to the latest interview.,....dont stress yourself... they only need DS156..DS157 and DS156K...

they dont even need the DS230!!!!!!

No I do not see where your confusion is coming from. What are you referring to about completed/received/filed prior to the date of your interview? Why would you think you would bring a form that is not even mentioned? That is not very black and white thinking.

You bring what is listed in the embassy instructions letter. Instructions letter goes so far in regards to the DS-230 to say they only want PART 1 as well. Now that is black and white ;)

You won't need the DS-260.

However, fill out part one of the DS-230 and take it to the interview. Even if they don't ask for it on interview day, it's still listed on the USEM's interview instructions letter for K-1ers.

The USEM may or may not send your fiancée the letter which tells her that she is eligible to schedule an interview and that gives her instructions on how to prepare for the interview. Chinook and I are still holding our breath waiting for it. Check out Tintin's link and read it for yourself.

I would not give that advice regarding the DS-230, it IS listed as a required form in the Embassy Instructions Letter. All the COs at the embassy may not be asking for it.... YET, but some are asking, as that has been posted here on VJ.

Only reason I can think of for it not being asked for all the time yet is it takes a few months to process through everyone using the old instructions letter. Not everyone knows how to get things done very quickly.

Being denied a transit visa or tourist visa (for sure the tourist visa) at USEM is nothing to be concerned about... in fact being denied is pretty common with those in the Philippines.

K-1 visa is a whole different ballgame.
