Hi everyone,

we are pulling together all the documentation for our interview. My doctor's surgery has informed me that my immunisation history has been lost and I now have no proof of what immunisations I have had previously. Will I need to have all the childhood immunisations again or will I just need the relevant jabs for adults?

Any help or advice would be much appreciated,

Thank you!

See if they will do your shots again at your GP's surgery rather than paying out the wazoo for them at Knightsbridge. And remind them that the NHS lost them, not you and therefore it would be nice if they could do it on the house or at a reduced rate.

You do NOT repeat childhood shots.

Td or Tdap - or even DT, DTP or DtaP and it will be accepted for AOS

MMR (if born in 1957 or later) Get a second shot 4 wks later if you have time before the medical. If shot is within 4 weeks of medical, you get a waiver for second shot. I sufficient time interval.

Varicella Not routinely given in the UK ; a history of having chickenpox excuses you from the shot. They take your word for it at the visa medical exam if you say you had chickenpox.

Influenza - During flu season only, October 1 through March 31.

Have you medical before Oct and no flu shot needed.

Thanks everyone. I spoke to my practice nurse and I have been given DTAP, MMR 1 and will have MMr2 and flu in a few weeks, just before my medical. The jabs are free - I suspect because my records were lost. Thanks for your advice - I was really worried!

When were the jabs? What date is the medical?

Monday passed (16th Sept) and slight delay in second round of jabs, as the flu jab was not in stock until the end of September. so second jabs three weeks on Monday (21st Oct) and am hoping to book a medical for that week on Monday (crossing fingers flu jab does not make me sick!).

We are going to go past our date on packet three (4th Nov) for visa issue but that was always likely given that we only received packet three instructions on 9th September and had a few problems with gathering the address info for the police certificate (we are awaiting this now). This is fine I believe as long as we revalidate this with another signed statement (90 days intent to marry) before interview?

I was going to tell you if you went to your medical before Oct 1, then you get two waivers for the shots. That means you never have to get them.

1) MMR2- insufficient time interval (immigration does not make you delay to wait out the time interval for shots)

2) Flu- not flu season (if your exam is prior to the start of flu season Oct 1)

But you can't have your medical until the police certificate arrives.

You are correct about the new letter of intent. The instruction letter says it must be notarized.

Is the Flu shot really necessary?? I am going to have my shots done at my local DRs. I really don't want the Flu shot though, but I know we are in October now :( I am 27, healthy and rarely get sick, is there any way out of that one? My family have had it and it actually makes them sick!

You need nothing for a visa, but for AOS you need them. You will have to pay a civil surgeon to record your shots all over again of you don't get everything needed spot-on recorded at the Knightsbridge exam.

However the flu shot is a little tricky. If your AOS case gets picked up by the adjudicator after flu season (ending Mar 31) then because it is no longer flu season they don't require it. But can you time your AOS to get interview or approved without interview from Mar 31 to Oct 1? A long time span but timelines are very unpredictable. So yes there is kind of a way around it, but the magic is in the timing.

You can get a flu shot at Boots, Tesco....wherever ...and take the written proof to Knightsbridge. Some GPs only give them to children and elderly. The immigration requirement for flu jab changed November 2010 stating required for all over age 6 months. Before that it was over age 50.

Thank you for being so helpful! I have booked an appointment with the nurse at my local surgery to discuss my shots. I have decided I'll just go ahead and get the flu shot. I plan to be there by December, getting married at the end of the year/early January. It will still be fu season by the time I apply for AOS and don't want the hassle of being denied.

Is this list up to date? http://photos.state.gov/libraries/unitedkingdom/39181/pdfs/vaccinechart.pdf (asides from the Influenza?)

I am guessing I will need about 3 shots to meet the requirements. Tdap, Influenza and MMR.

I had one dose of MMR as a child. Does anyone here know if that counts as one or will I be required to have two doses? Also, you state you get a waiver if the second dose is not had 4 weeks later because of the time between the first shot and the interview. Does that mean you can apply for AOS without the second dose or do you still actually have to get it?

Your child MMR counts as 1. You are due another so get at your GP.

Example of waiver--

You go to your GP today and get your first MMR ever. Next week you go to the medical. They can't give you MMR dose 2 because there is a four week interval. They mark the immunization worksheet "insufficient time interval". It's a waiver.

You can have dose 2 now because your dose 1 was a long time ago.
