Still waiting for I-130 approval... Is 6 months waiting for approval considered to be a normal thing?

It's been six months since I received the notification email stating that the USCIS has received my K-130 payment. I'm still not getting any updates on my petition status. This is very frustrating. I miss my father so much!!! I don't like the idea that he's living by himself since mom passed away a year ago. I called the USCIS service center and they told me everything looks good. There's nothing to worry about. Anyway, I wonder if anyone can help me with the fees and process guides. What to file next until he's physically out here and how much each filling step costs?

no such thing as a k-130

plan on 8-9 months easily these days

next steps at nvc are at the nvc filers thread in that forum

spend some time clicking through the guides and the forums specific to your petition

**Topic title slightly edited, "K-130" changed to "I-130" as there is no such form as a K-130 and since the OP is petitioning a parent, the I-130 would have been the form that was filed.**

While you are awaiting approval of your petition, study the instructions for the I-864 (Affidavit of Support), you will need to submit that form along with accompanying documentation once your file arrives at the NVC and the appropriate bill has been paid.

Your father's civil documents will also have to be submitted along with the immigrant visa application once that bill has been paid. FYI: The application itself is an online form (DS-260), however, the documents will need to be physically mailed to the NVC.

Current fees are as follows:

• Affidavit of Support: $88
• Immigrant Visa Application: $230
• Green card production fee, paid to USCIS after issuance of immigrant visa: $165
