Dr. Shiping Bao, the recently fired Florida medical examiner who performed Trayvon Martin‘s autopsy, is allegedly claiming that George Zimmerman shot Martin through the back, reports Alternet’s Rod Bastanmehr.
“According to the former assistant coroner, the results of Martin’s autopsy clearly showed that, despite Zimmerman’s statements regarding their altercation, there was no feasible way for Martin to have been on top of Zimmerman when the gun was fired, because the bullet entered Martin’s back,” Alternet reports.

This allegation is shocking (and dubious) for several reasons, including the fact that Martin having been shot through the heart at close range was a pivotal point during the trial as both the defense and prosecution teams attempted to paint a picture of the fatal encounter — specifically, whom was the aggressor during the altercation.
More importantly, Bao himself signed off on Trayvon Martin’s autopsy report stating that the entrance wound was through the chest at “intermediate range.”

Fired Zimmerman trial coroner says conviction was never going to happen.

Martin case could, and should spark a new wave of outrage.

Dr. Shiping Bao, the Volusia County medical examiner who was in charge of handling slain-teenager Trayvon Martin's body in February 2012, has come out and claimed that the prosecution team was biased against the African-American teenager, and intentionally lost the case. According to Bao's attorney, Willie Gary, the medical examiner's office, the state attorney's office and the Sanford Police's "general attitude was that [Martin] got what he deserved. He was in essence told to zip his lips. 'Shut up. Don't say those things.'" Dr. Bao is speaking out in the wake of having been fired from the m.e.'s office, and is planning a $100 million lawsuit against the State of Florida.

According to the former assistant coroner, the results of Martin's autopsy clearly showed that, despite Zimmerman's statements regarding their altercation, there was no feasible way for Martin to have been on top of Zimmerman when the gun was fired, because the bullet entered Martin's back.

Bao claims that the prosecution never actually asked him the questions that were crucial to the success in the case, and that he changed his opinion from the time he initially examined Martin and the time he was on the stand. Bao and his attorney say they believe he was fired for questioning the way the case was handled, and possibly for not going long with the desired narrative.

Bao testified in court that the amount of marijuana that was found in Martin's system at the time of his death would have had little to no effect on his ability to reason—even though initiallyy he had stated that the drug could have possible impaired his mental state.

You may remember that on August 6, shortly after the verdict, AlterNet's Steven Rosenfeld wrote a story about how it appeared that the state intentionally threw the case against Zimmerman. Among his points: Gov. Scott handpicked the prosecutors, who seemed to ignore much of the evidence. The whole thing is bizarre. Was there a case to answer? Wasn't there? What a mess. One thing is clear, they need to clear it up before people lose trust in the justice system. If GZ can't be found guilty because there is insufficient evidence to prove a case, then fine, it's done, it's over, nothing else to say and move on.

As to whether he should have lost his job or not. If he is inept, then justice wasn't done, and if he lied under oath, justice wasn't done. Either way, he should not be doing the job but how does that leave the department now?

They knew that before the trial began. They knew that when they decided not to prosecute.

The only reason they prosecuted was because racists demanded it and the state had no balls to say "Stuff it!" The trial was designed to appease racists and you cannot appease racists.

Justice was done when GZ shot and killed TM. Everyone knew that. Even the prosecution. The medical examiner could not change the outcome of what happened. It was a dog and pony show and this wacko medical examiner is using it to get his "fame".

The testimony and evidence is pretty clear. There was one shot fired. The bullet lodged in his heart. There was no exit wound. (outstanding bullet performance!) The lack of a bullethole in TMs back rules out being shot in the back. what happened, happened. There are plenty of witnesses and evidence.

This guy is a nut job. But he is not the reason GZ was acquitted.

It's one of two things, either there isn't any evidence that a crime was committed, or the evidence that there was a crime committed wasn't found. They are not one and the same thing.

That there are still stories emanating from the CP office so long after the case should be of a concern, regardless of your particular bias. The CP service needs to be impartial and to be SEEN to be impartial or the justice system is not serving us, its constituents. You might want to brush all the controversy under the carpet, simply because GZ can't possibly be anything other than an upright dude who killed because his life was in danger and all such stories are simply pandering to the black community. I don't. I prefer the questions to be asked and answered .
