Some petitions went really fast.

Why? Routing !

Studying routing, then study where yer petition is, and try to understand the queue at the location where yer petition is.

I would like to study routing but I don't know where to start. I'm very confused because I think all the I-130 are now sent to NBC and are staying there. I think that's the USCIS plan from now on, but maybe I am mistaken. I have read on some of the threads that it has been this way since Aug 2012. But the VJ stats still list the 3 service centers with members input and up dates. So I really don't understand.

My wife and I just got our NOA1 and were prepared to wait for 9.5 months right from the get go. Our relationship has always been a long distance relationship, obviously, and waiting and distance are very normal for us. So we're treating this waiting period like any other long wait we had before we were husband and wife - as something that is nothing new and that patience and our love is the key to getting through the process. We are dealing with the federal government here and government, especially ours, is notoriously slow and bureaucratic when it comes to getting things done. So no surprise there.

ya, starting 15 August 2012, I-130s for spousal visas overseas were routed to local offices.

I don't know what the situation is now, as I've not paid attention to it the last 9 weeks.

However - there's a USCIS Monthly filers thread (one per filing month) in the IR-1/CR-1 subforum (status reports, I think) where you can catch up with what's gone on before you. Many folk, in each monthly thread, wrote of their findings about these routings.

Is also possible to learn of how yer casefile was routed, with a bit of social engineering telephone work with a Tier 2 at USCIS call center.

IMO, currently, if the local offices are full / jammed up, and the casefile seems easy, then it makes sense to keep it at NBC/MSC. I could, of course, be wrong.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Our NOA1 date is May 6, we're close to the 5 months wait and still nothing!. My case online hasn't changed since May 8. When we sent our package we had hope that it would be faster than this. Colombia was getting approvals from NBC in 3 months and some cases even less time than that. I don't see any approvals now from NBC after February, and now I found this:

April 8, 2013- NBC opened its new office in Overland Park, Kansas, where Adjudications

Division 7 will process Form I-90 applications. A new division, Adjudications Division 8, also

will be located at the Overland Park, Kansas facility. NBC anticipates that Division 8 will begin

to adjudicate stand-alone immediate relative Form I-130 petitions by the end of Fiscal Year 2013.

What does this mean? How much longer do we have to wait to get something from NBC? This is not fair!!! I'M SO FRUSTRATED!!! ranting33va.gif

I know how you feel, our NOA1 was also received in May. Here is a link to other May petitioners http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/429769-may-2013-i-130-filers/page-5, good luck to all of us.

How do you know the K3 stays at nbc?

Please

august 2012 the 130's began processing at nbc.. if it was a stand alone 130 it would be forwarded to a local office for processing (most of the time.. as in 99%) if the petition had other individuals attached to it or something else.. i.e. k-3 it stays at the nbc. (as far as I have seen)

you can do a double check on your petition with a call to an IO, but this will involve several calls, making sure someone is really looking at the many screens they must scroll through to get to know where your file actually is, and then you have to do it again and get the same answer from them to confirm.. totally frustrating yes

you can also go through all the various threads in the cr1 forum where this is discussed at nauseum

I have read every entry of all the monthly filers I-130 from January thru August. I keep up with this every day. I'm not sure what your used to seeing on these threads but instead of up dates about where files are sent I just see people crying about the delay and lack of information.

I've also read title 8 and all the USCIS IO hand books that I can find. I have been digging for their internal policy's to try to find out how this all works. I have not yet found what I'm looking for but I am getting a lot wiser.

There are a lot of opinions shared on VJ. A lot of these opinions contradict the opinions of others, so now I ask people how do you know that and where can I read this for myself.

Would you know why the VJ charts are set up showing CSC,TCS and VSC? I mean if the files go from NBC to local offices then why are the Charts reporting Service Centers? Are these because the Service Centers still control the work that the field offices are working on?

what is your local office?

if it is ny city.. sorry to say bud, but that place is a mess

there is a thread dedicated to that office specifically and I think they are now at a year for 130's

if your local office is different you might be in a little better shape

if you do find something out about your petition.. you will only find out that it is transferred or not and/or if it is the process of being adjudicated

best advice is READ as many threads as you can in the cr1 forum.. even if they do not apply to you read them.. take a week or two just reading those and you will learn plenty

heck have your wife do some of the reading too !

That's one piece of it.

Another piece of it is solely that tracking the casefile transfer is a hit-or-miss proposition to most folk. If you read the timeticks in my profile, you can get some idea of what I did to learn about the casefile transfer.

IMO, USCIS wanted the casefile transfer (MSC to local office) to be something 'hidden' even though an official USCIS announcement was made about it - and I still don't know why this was.

as to the Charts - if VJ charts are NOT showing MSC data - well - it's time to bug Cap'n Ewok. I don't give a ####### about TSC for I-130 filings - historically that's only pegged here for DCF casefiles (sure, a data error, but one agreed upon by Igor )

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I could not agree more. You nailed it.

Being in the relationship for more than 5 years by now give my fiancé and I a perspective the whole meaning of life that what we would going through in the future. We've been in long distance relationship for years which is many people still don't understand how to worked it out. If we could make this relationship works for 5 years and now still on why can't we just wait for less than a year for the whole process to be done?

Thank you for your answer. I will check your profile for the Time ticks. I think Cap'n Ewok just updated the charting system today. He's sending out an notice to all the members soon.
