Hy, i really need some help and information. I came here in US with an J1 visa. But i've decided that i'll have a better life here with my future wife. She's U.S citizen and next week we will fill the paper for marriage. My problem is that i dont wanna leave anymore back home ( Romania ). Please tell me what to do and what option i have to remain here and not be needed to go home. Thank you very much !

usc files 130 and aos, pays all fees

and you wait until it gets finished

get married within 60 days of arriving and you are subject to some additional scrutiny.. after 90 days less scrutiny.. less than 30 days..lots of scrutiny

Sept 18, 2013 Packet 3 forms logged into the system

Sept 24, 2013 Packet 4 received (dated September 19)

October 4, 2013 Interview *approved*

October 9, 2013 Passport received

November 12, 2013 POE Los Angeles

I was looking around, I think the best thing to do would be to consult with an immigration lawyer.

As you are on a J1 visa, you are required to return home as the visa ends, it might be considered fraud to stay in the US while the process is being completed but an immigration lawyer will be able to help and advise you.

The most important thing is to figure out whether your J-1 has a 2-year home residency requirement. If so, you need to get a waiver.

i echo newacct's posit - to check the J-1 visa, seeking nomemclature printed there

for

H.R.R. or HRR

then

write out all of what you see on the VISA, in that one or two lines containing 'H.R.R.'

and then,

and only then,

can we vette for you, if'n you need a waiver or no.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
