Schedule medical after receiving case number from NVC?

Hello guys!

We are still waiting for NVC to receive our case but I wanted to get reassured about medical beforehand.

Once we get a new (MOS) case number assigned by NVC, can we schedule and pass a medical exam for Moscow US Consulate right away? Or do we wait for the letter from consulate before taking any other steps?

why not just call the doctor and ask?

As soon as i received the NVC no i emailed the consulate to get an app an included my fiance passport page scanned and we had to wait 2weeks to get one an and received the actually letter in the mail

Thank you for the advice. I think I'll try to get my medical done when I get a new number from NVC.

The doctor might not always know what is best to do, so I decided to consult fellow VJers smile.png

of course the doctor will know

you call the doc and tell them you are going to need a us immigrant physical examination and then ask what they need from you to perform it

they will tell you EXACTLY what you need for them

after all they are the ones who do this all the time

fyi.. I got several different answers from doctors about medicals and was able to get mine done before case complete at nvc btw

In Ukraine you can do it right away, but several members on here said that they wanted to see an "official looking" piece of paper with your case number. When my fiancee went, we had the letter from the NVC with the case number on it, but they tell you that you can just make up a letter and write the number on there. Other people reported that just telling them the case number was fine. In either case, there was no need to wait for any other letter from anyone.

Thank you for the advice. I think I'll try to get my medical done when I get a new number from NVC.

how medicals work is country specific

what happened for other members in other countries does not apply to you

the doctor really can tell you more than members here from other countries

or .. head on to the embassy website and find the info there .. medicals do expire, so be careful about getting it done too early

We scheduled our medical only after making our interview appointment so that we would be sure we had enough lee-time to make it work.

We're both meeting in Moscow though so arranging everything with planes hotels IOM and the Embassy was a delicate juggling act.

Our IOM is on a Monday morning, Interview is on Weds. I'd suggest having her call IOM or the other Clinic and have her talk to the people there, it will clear up any confusion.

I went to the IOM yesterday for the test, everything went very smooth. Got the results the same day.

Whatever it says on their site is the only accurate and correct info. The only place to do it is in Moscow. It costs whatever it says it costs (in ruble equivalent). They do not accept medical examinations from any other place than the one they tell you to go to. As it says there, if you come before 10am, you will receive the results that same day, so you can do the medical the day before your interview so you do not need to go to Moscow twice, just stay there for one night if you come in early in the morning to do medical and then do the interview the next day.

how much time it took you to get letter from NVC? (was it sent to ur e-mail or normal mail?) i assume ur fiancee had a scanned copy of it for the medical?

Took about a week or so after I got the case number by calling to receive it by regular mail. I went to Ukraine to be with her for the interview and brought it over, but a copy is fine.
