I came here in a K2 visa (follow to join) my mom has her green card already. My question is how long will i have to wait to get my EAD? I have been sittin at home for 3 months already and got nothing to do -____- Will it take only a short period of time considering the fact that my mom already has her green card. And if not, can i do something about expiditing my EAD?

You sent in your EAD application (I-765) three months ago along with your I-485 AOS application? If so, you should be getting some results soon. As indicated in the VJ Guides, EAD and AP processing generally occur within 90 days of application filing. The USCIS expedite criteria are here, see if you qualify: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=16a6b1be1ce85210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=db029c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD. That your mother has her green card is good, since your K-2 derivative status is dependent on her status (AOS approval). Though, your AOS application must also go through the same adjudication process. Here are some good K-2 AOS tips, from the Guides (available at the top of the forum page), you can review while you are waiting: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k2-visa-adjustment-of-status-tips.

While you are waiting, you could do a couple of things: :time: It helps everyone that uses the forum. Additionally, your profile information indicates you filed for a "K-3" visa. Is that correct?

In case you are not aware, this whole process is a waiting game. some folks wait years to get their loved ones a visa. :clock: can drive you crazy!

Good luck.

Completed: K1/K2 (271 days) - AOS/EAD/AP (134 days) - ROC (279 days)

OIC, it seems that you might have some more waiting…..

Changing the visa type is easy. In the upper right-hand corner of the forum page is your name, with a pull-down menu. Go there, and hit "My timeline,"

then click "edit" on the next screen, click on "edit timeline" box on next screen, look for "visa type" on next screen, using drop-down menu, find "K-1," click on it, then scroll down to the bottom of page, and click on "submit changes" box.

Good luck, HTH.
