Hi All.

We are petitioning my wife's parents.

We finally submitted the DS-230 and I-864 with supporting documents,

Two questions:

  1. What happens next?
  2. Do we need to send her parents copies of the I-864, showing all the financial information? Will they need it during the interview? Or can we keep that between us and the US government? ;-)

Thank you!

Sorry to bump this, but I guess my question is really basically: What should her parents have with them at the interview? Copies of all forms submitted (DS-230, I-864, etc)? Original supporting documents (birth certificates, etc.)? Are all of these things needed? Also, can someone point me to the types of questions they might ask at the interview? Thank you!

Yeah basically gather all the docs that you submitted they will get a letter from the embassy to fill some forms also. An interview will be held for her parents its pretty informal because most of the older generation dont speak english and get confused easily so its a very basic interview. Just wait for correspondence. This process does take quite some time. We did it for our grandparents it took nearly a year to Complete the process but this was almost 8 years ago. Now I heard things are a bit slower.

Oh yeah they will need to show birth certificate and any passports. I dont know if you filled out the form that shows the sponsors financial ability to support. That will be needed with backup docs. I think thats the 864 that you may have already submitted. They asked my grandparents for current docs so we had to send them for 3 months prior to interview.
