A white person ,Iiving in an Eastern country, can get where you are coming from Marvin.

That is so apples and oranges, and you know it.

Why? Surely when you lived in Thailand you experienced racism?

Absolutely. Things like not being able to own land, or buy a condo unless the building was at least 51% Thai. Those kind of things are sanctioned by the government. There's no laws like that in the U.S. Quite the opposite actually. There's all kinds of special programs in the U.S. to give minorities special breaks.

Although racism is prevalent everywhere it somehow doesn't trigger people in other places to tell their kids that school doesn't matter, they should give up on themselves, and that their best ticket through life is to sell/do drugs, pimp ho's, or join a gang. We had NO rights in Saudi to own property or anything else but did not really feel the urge to commit crimes or do other bad things over there.

The reason you don't do that there is because if you do you get swift, sure consequences, which are missing here.

Ok, just got word that my wife's grandfather just died. I am going to focus on that until I can get her home. I'll be back later once things calm down.

But your ancestors weren't slaves and you were in a too small a minority to create a stink.

Sorry to hear that.

A time out is probably a good idea.

If you work in Saudi you are employed by that company and no right to switch to another. You cannot even leave the Kingdom without an exit visa from your employer. Saudi employers have the right to take and hold your passport to prevent you from travelling. You cannot buy or own property. If you get into an accident with a Saudi you are at fault no matter what happens. You can be fined everything you have or imprisoned for it.

Black people in America have NO idea what racism is or what it can be.

NOTE: Some Saudi laws might be good for Chicago. Kill someone or traffic drugs - get your empty little dredlocked head publicly lopped off in the town square. That works. Not much violent crime in Saudi.

And he's not the only one. Dreadlocks aren't a sure sign of being a gangster. You need to stop that line of thinking.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dreadlocks

And there is no such thing as black english, it's called slang.

I have no problem with acting appropriately in the workplace. It's what you should do. But how much change do we have to endure in order for us to be treated as normal? We can't have "black" names because it scares you. We can't have afros and dreadlocks because you don't like it. We can't wear anything but suits and ties because pants and a hoodie mean you're a killer. Sounds like free will isn't on the table if you're black.

Or white for that matter.A black co-worker once told me.."When I go in the bank and I act whit...urr I men you know dressed real nice and speak properly they treat me different than when i go in there dirty from working in the yard and speak slang".

I told him..Guess what , they treat me different when i go in there in oily clothes and cut offs and speak slang as opposed to when I go in there dressed with a tie, and speak proper English. It's not about race...If you were given a name like Contrinka and you go in for an interview with 10 inch nails and have a monster stacked weave, dressed in skin tight pants with a Mnt Olympus ####### and talk Ebonics..Guess what..You are going to be judged..It's called professionalism.

That is what is not understood. You expect the whole world to change to your accepted culture. It would be like me being named Billy Bob and showing up to an interview in overalls with a chew in my mouth..How you carry yourself says something about you. Sorry but it is all to often when you got the Ghetto name you act ghetto.

P.S. Ebonics and acting Ghetto are black coined phrases..

Here is a good example..I met a black guy last night at an event. Older guy. well groomed, nicely dressed and was the MC of the event.Very well spoken. He came over and hungout with my group for a bit.We were talking about, how we go out and eat on Sunday nights. He is married to a Filippina also.He said he would love to join us..I got his name added him to our FB group and everyone was saying this morning , that they hope joins us, as he was well liked. Not one single person even alluded to his skin color or even thought about it. However had he had his pants hanging off his #######, holding his ####### with one hand and pants with the other, and mumbling with MF every third sentence, we would have shunned him off., but yet many would have said that is racist..Don't ask us to change our behavior to the lowest comman deliminator of society then call us racist if we don't

2. We have to change the entire black race. When one black person commits a crime, the entire race is blamed. I know white women who won't date black men because of something that happened to someone they knew, not them. Even here, all it takes is one and folks wishing we were back in the South back in the 50's.

As if. LOL

"one black person commits a crime and gets the entire race blamed" One lone black person? All by his lonesome? LOL

Bull. Here is your dash of reality. You are dam skippy correct when one out of four people in a single group commits a felony, the entire group does get blamed. ESPECIALLY when the other 3/4 of them make excuses for the 1/4 of them that do it. It leaves the impression that all of them think it's OK and that all of them tolerate it.

Newsflash: It's not OK. It never will be tolerated.

You may now go exercise your free will to drown yourself in self-pity. Best of luck. It was nice knowing you. Really. I mean that. Really.

My grandfather in law just passed, I asked for a respite and you still want to kick me. Class act.
