On the campus of the University of Alabama, accusations that traditionally white sorority chapters had turned down an apparently impeccable candidate simply because she was black hardly came as a surprise.

The surprise was that it was sorority members — and not the candidate herself — who made the allegations, saying that in some cases they were pressured by alumnae to turn her down.

It's admirable that they thought it was unfair and spoke up.

I think that we will eventually see a day where stuff like this doesn't happen. If we continue in our current situation where the wealthy stay wealthy and the elite stay elite, while the disadvantaged stay disadvantaged, it will take a long time. It will, however, eventually happen.

Actually there isn't. The only thing is the CBC. NAACP has a white president. UNCF has plently of white and other minorities. BET is run by white people. Black student councils have white members, one even has a white kid running it.

That's the difference between groups that are minority based and all white. You'd be hard pressed to find an all-white group that has any minorities in it, let alone running it.

Did it upset you when white girls won the national stepping contest and the black community was so outraged they went back and changed the scores

You missed my post on this one. Do a seach on my thread, key word 2010 sprite step off. I posted this video back in another thread to show how I felt about it. Those girls kicked the shyt out of the competition. And they shouldn't have had to share 1st place with anyone.

One of the essential freedoms is the "right to associate", we should be careful about erasing this.

Naturally the School should have the control over these groups but on principle we should allow people to form groups and organizations based on any legal metric they want.
