Note 19: Any application or petition for an individual currently in F-1 status needs to include evidence the student has been maintaining status and has been authorized employment if applicable. Such evidence usually can be satisfied by submitting the latest Form I-20AB/I-20ID and a copy of the employment authorization card.

^^ I am not sure if I-20 alone is enough. Or should I include transcript as well?

SECOND question

For the I-131 my letter is very generic with an outline provided online, not sure if that's ok.

Application For Advance Parole

Dear Sir/Madam:

The purpose of this letter is to request an advance parole document. I anticipate that I will be required to travel abroad for personal reasons to Germany and elsewhere. I will return to the United States to pursue my adjustment of status application. For this reason, I respectfully request that you grant my request an advance parole valid for multiple entries for as long as possible under your current guidelines.

Thank you for your kind consideration of this application.

I also did not get I-94 the last time I entered the US soil earlier this year. I retrieved it online, is that something I should I include as well?

Not sure where note 19 is but I don't think it applies to you. I think you are misreading something not meant for you (because you can file AOS even if you were out of status). Is that from the EAD app? You put in category C9 and "permission to accept employment" right?

You can include I-20 if you like but from what I remember it is not required.

You don't need to attach an explanation for AP so just skip that whole letter.

I am not out of status nor am I on OPT.

Thank you very much for the information. I had saw it on the checklist so I thought I had to include something to explain. I do believe you but just wanna make sure.

I have another question on letter of affidavit whether that is necessary. I know it probably does not hurt but I may not have time due to the need of Advance Parole.

1) I-20 is enough, you do not need the transcript

2) You do not need explanation for the 131

For 1 and 2, I did exactly that (no transcript, no exp) and got approved, no RFEs

3) Include the copy of the I-94, it is super important!

Not necessary unless you need to address some red flag, which is probably not the case.

I think that is something old from USCIS, and I know for a fact it doesn't apply to Chicago lockbox filings. USCIS says not to use ACCO fasteners for Chicago, for instance.

I am fairly certain (though not positive) that you don't need I-20, and I am sure that you don't need to send transcripts or anything. You don't have to prove that you are in status. You can send I-20 if you like.

You do need a copy of your I-94, though, to show you entered the country with inspection.

Thank you very much for the response. I did NOT receive I-94 when I arrived here since they switched over to the electronic, I do, though, have the electronic one I retrieved. I do not know if that's acceptable.

Yes, that is what you need. You only entered the country a month or so ago? The electronic ones are new.

For the 131 they ask for "A copy of any document issued to you by USCIS showing your present status in the US". Well, the I-20 is issued by ICE. ICE and USCIS are the two branches of DHS. So technically you might not need it. But it is for sure a document that shows your present status in the US (so is the I-94), so I thought it was a good idea to include it.

Thank you, it was for me to come back to school for my senior year. Did not just arrive here for the first time or anything. Yeah, I was worried because I did not have a physical copy of those white form of I-94.

Yeah I included I-20 at the end of my packet just in case. Thank you.

copy of I-20, copy of unofficial transcript, verification of empoyment. If you have these three you are good to go. We had these and in two months we got our green card. Good luck!

Alternatively, you can still have a copy of your visa too....(not the most relevant but better to be over prepared, than under prepared)

I really should have done but unfortunately I have on included the I-20. I should have shown my transcript since I have been a full-time college student with 15-18 credit hours for the past 4 years. 2 months!!? Wow, congrats. I hope I can get it fast too. Or at least EAD and AP :) Thank you again for the reply.

You do NOT need to include transcripts, you do NOT need verification of employment (source: did not include them, approved, no RFE's). In my opinion, it is better to not second guess yourself right after sending the package. Everyone (including myself, even trying not to) ends up adding materials that are not actually required.
